I check out the threads all the time too, but I don't believe in saying "good looking tower" in every thread, just to increase my post count. Keep up the updates Malec, I appreciate it. Your renders kick ass!

24th of April

1st of May

6th of May

9th of May

Apparantly all the piling that has been done up until now has just been testing again. Very strange but there is still lots of work happening, just check for yourself what happened over the past 2 weeks.

That's a small footprint for a building over 1,500 feet tall! That is strange though. I've been meaning to ask, what are those vertical tubes? Is it piping? Support? For what?

Could this final dig be the last one? I really hope we see this building rise in a couple months.

You guys may like the skyscrapers, but the truth is that Dubai is totally out of whack.

At the moment yes but they have to get a main contractor very very soon if this is to not go on hold. The work that is being done now is normally done by the main contractor but not this time for some reason. Maybe Swissboring (the piling contractor) will just finish digging to reveal the pile caps, or they might go further and prepare the site for the foundation slab. I doubt they will actually pour the slab though since this would have been mentioned in news articles which talked about the 250 piles.
Maybe a main contractor has actually been selected and we know nothing about it. I really doubt this though. What's really strange is that there has been no mention whatsoever about even looking for a main contractor, yet progress so far has been really good. Compare that to burj al alam where nothing is being done on the foundation but there is an article every month about finding a main contractor.

Little to no progress here. I guess now is when we have to wait for the main contractor. How long will it take?

If construction hasn't started, only excavation, then I am changing the building's status in the database back to proposed. http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=56322

No no. Piling has been completed. We just don't know what's going to happen now since they haven't found (or else are just keeping it a secret) a main contractor.

A sign on site shows as Swissboring is main contractor, is this false?
if not, is swiss boring the first main contractor and now it is changed and Swissboring is restricted to only for piling work?
