Obviously, the fact that the tower is getting close to completion is upsetting sereral people here. The exhilaration of witnessing the race to the top will be ending soon.

I just want to say that this has been on of my favourite threads for the last few years, and when I see how amazing this tower has turned out to be, I know that something very rare has happened.

Not only has a beautiful tower been added to the short list of the elite skyscrapers, but it's been built in the city that invented the concept.
For the year 2008, I can think of no better gift to the skycraper lovers.

^wow !

......I originally asked the "number of floors question" because I spent the last 3 weeks in China and sort of lost track of the floor count. I did look back 3-4 pages as Victor suggested, and I didn't see anything specific on floor count....I am just assuming that it will hit the roof line in the next couple of weeks ? ...is this correct ?

I have a new question about the "Toping Out", of this building.
If I recall, about a month or so ago, the spire will be finished a while later after the building is Toped out. At the top of TT, there is a small 1-2 story section that is at the base of the spire. Will that be finished soon, or is that considered part of the spire and be finished later?

Thanks!

The roof height (per this thread's title) is at 1171 feet (357 meters).

So my guess is that the "spire" is anything above 357 m.

(on the other hand, in CULWULLA's drawing, it kinda looks like the spire starts at 342 m....). Hmmmmm.

I know! It's interesting. I'm assuming that the topping out of this building will be 357 m because that small section conforms with the rest of the building and includes glass.
I don't know, I guess we will have to see in the next few weeks!

Trump Tower: Getting near the top

In case you've been craning your neck lately and wondering when the enormous Trump Tower would stop plowing into the sky, the moment is nigh.

The concrete superstructure of the 92-story hotel and condominium tower will be completed by the end of August, reports a spokeswoman for the Chicago office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the skyscraper's architects and engineers.

Even then, Trump Trump will continue its upward path with the addition of a spire that will bring its total height to 1,362 feet--about 90 feet shorter than Sears Tower, which remains the nation's tallest building.

No formal "topping out" ceremony has been scheduled yet, the Skidmore spokeswoman says. The tower is scheduled to be completed next year.

POSTSCRIPT: In reaction to this post, there's a lively discussion about Trump Tower at skyscraperpage.com. Check out the eye-popping images, too.
