Recreation/Entertainment facilities in Atlantic Canada
Recreation facilities are one of the biggest selling points for attracting people to a particular city/town/village. Some ongoing issues locally have brought the debate out about how important they are and who should be responsible for them (ie: government vs. users). These types of facilities are usually some of the first things people discuss when promoting their communities. Nobody wants to live in a place where there is nothing to do, and recreation facilities such as rinks, pools, gyms, parks, theatres, etc... all contribute to attracting and retaining people.
In addition to providing a place for recreation, they also generate social opportunities and help people to feel welcome in new surroundings, which kind of fits in with the "place-making" discussion which has been touched on in the St. John's section.
So, I'd like to open the floor to everyone to post about their favourite such facilities, or anything your community might have offer, or any new developments, or anything relevant to the topic title in general!
