The Jazz District is starting to fill in nicely after decades of neglect.
The small, pale non-descript 2 floor building in the lower/center is "The Foundation." Famous KC jazz jam sessions have happened every Saturday night into daybreak Sunday morning for 70+ years. It was the black musician's union and world reknown jazz musicians like Charlie Parker, Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster, Count Basie, Mary Lou Williams and too many others to list got thier start here. They and the hundreds of other jazz musicians that still jam here today make this place a historic and cultural gem that has entertained visitors from all over the world.
