ffs. no spires in the new logo. The website still lists the height at 1170. Don't panic... yet.

No spires now? That was the feature I liked best. Even more than the cross bracing, which was already de-scoped. Too bad.

I believe it. Why else would the new renderings on the official WTC site feature a spire-less WTC3. Guess they removed them to complement WTC2.

Then why are the spires in the website renderings, and why are the spires in the official release?

Take a look at the video for today's 2 WTC release. The 3 WTC spires are present-

I thought about that too. Hope against hope that no diamonds/no spires = Ingels/Something better? Would that be possible?

That video was probably older and not properly edited.

Tons of renderings: http://wtc.com/

No spires on WTC3

Yes, moving electronic billboards on 2, no spires on 3. I really don't care about 2, but I liked the spires on 3WTC. I guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Disappointing.

On the WTC site, for number 3, it saids:

Quote:
ARCHITECT
Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners
HEIGHT
80 Floors/ 1349 ft
SIZE
2.5 million RSF
MAIN LOBBY
Triple-height office lobby 9 entrances (5 from street level, 2 from transportation hub, and 2 from retail complex)
ELEVATORS
Destination Dispatch: Improves lobby traffic flow and limits crowding by directing passengers to assigned cars
LIFE SAFETY
Central concrete core Steel encased in reinforced concrete External structural steel frame Safety systems exceed NYC building code
Looks like it got a height bump or is this some error on the site???

I remember when the cross-bracing got chopped someone said they lost interest in 3WTC. Well, I just lost interest.

for me those 4 Spires gave 3 WTC some character along its albeit reduced cross bracing. now its just as bland as 4

It appears they just raised the curtain wall/screen up to where the spires would top off on the tower.

I was thinking they did that, but fuck, what a way to fix what isn't broken. Now flat roofs will dominate the historically spire peaked downtown skyline. Great. The spires looked fine. Now the complex will just be a modernist block with little character. My excitement, which has lasted all 10 years since the masterplan was revealed, was just killed instantly.

Possible. Of all the towers, 3 was the one that fluctuated most in height. Could be simple error.

I actually like it now that they removed the spires.

Man, One WTC looks really uncomfortable in that render. Like when you're hanging out with a "close talker" co-worker during happy hour...

I have a friend like who gets too close when she talks, that tower is exactly doing that lean in waaaay to close for a conversation.
