Unfortunately, the rendering is not included in the online edition (anyone want to scan it?)... just this sobering graphic:

I can't even bring myself to read that paper anymore. They are absolutely incapable of saying a positive word about Portland.

Artist, just curious, what is their anticipated completion and move-in date for everyone?

Yes, I've given up on the Tribune as well. Haven't picked one up since before the election.

I havent read a Portland paper in a while now, the Tribune, Oregonian, Mercury, and WWeek all seem to be pretty crappy in the journalist department.

Yeah, the Tribune is repetitive and predictable--a paper version of Jim Karlock, Jack Bog, or anyone else that loathes yet still lives in portland. Sadly the WW is headed in the very same direction of constantly negative news about the city. Always trying to prove how horrible it is here.

Current estimated completion date is October 2010. Originally, PRS's plan was to schedule the move-in by floor, and while they may still attempt that, the reality is that residents who are home owners will move in when they get their homes sold. At any rate, I expect move in will take place over a period of time so there isn't a que of moving vans all the way to the freeway.

All of them thrive on demonizing someone.

I particularly take issue with the Trib and WW personally.

Don't worry, I didn't mention the Trib article out of any love for them -- I just wanted to see that rendering on here. The only rag, out of the big four, that I'll give any credit to at all is the Mercury. For generally trying to cover issues that are relevant to folks concerned with the intersection of individual rights and social responsibilities (the issue of homelessness comes to mind)... when I say "folks", by the way, I really mean "young, hip-to-be-'anti-corporate'-hipsters".

I guess I am a media gleaner. I read whatever catches my eye and glean what I can out of all of it.

This was taken on the 19th. The pictures are going to get trickier the higher this thing gets!

The Matisse has posted a banner which says "Spring 2010".
Sounds a bit optimistic.

there's also a web page, though little more than a placeholder right now:
http://thematisse.com/

of concern is the rendering -- it looks more banal than the initial renderings. I wonder if this is an updated rendering or an early one? Guess we'll find out.

As much as I want this building to finish, I'm still crossing my fingers that they go slow enough that we can still see the 4th of July fireworks from our place :-)

We've been thinking the same thing! After watching the last few fireworks displays over the last month, however, I think that even when the building goes up we'll be able to see at least a portion, if not all, of the big shows. At least I hope so.

Sowat: did you move from the John Ross to the Meriwether? I thought you were getting out of the south waterfront completely?

yeah, renting in the meriwether east for the time being. great value, and remarkably, much quieter here during construction hours. it was just those relentless noisy Gehl crane handlers on SW River Pkwy I had to get away from.
