Thanks for the explanation; that makes sense especially if you're limited to downtown shots. It's been a while since I've been to Calgary.

Is it difficult to get a distance shot of it from that angle even with the Telus obstruction? Obviously a large part of the structure would be blocked (not making for an ideal photo) but it would at least give an idea as to how wide this building looks from directly behind. The top floors should still be visible.

This is an old shot I took from up in NE Calgary, it is pretty close to the angle you are probably looking for:

Here is one more zoomed in, but taken even earlier during construction:

Yeah, I believe the top one is where I first saw the reverse angle and it left a negative impression that I still can't get past. While the Bow is stunning from almost all angles, the width from directly behind is just terrible in my opinion (understanding that I'm in the minority).

Since the top photo was taken before completion, can you confirm whether it had topped out at the time? The city being lower in elevation blocks the lower section so I can't tell by simply counting floors.

I believe that top photo shows the building topped out.

So what are the Atriums supposed to look like now if they were remodeled?

Agreed. Photos of the convex side of the tower never do it justice. Seeing it in person is much different.

Love or hate the Bow, I will say this....it's a tower that would be noticeable in any skyline in the world. It's the only high rise tower in Canada that could do that IMO. As nice as say the Shangri-La is...it would simply blend in a city like New york, Chicago or HK

We need more pictures of The Bow coming down southbound on Centre Street to downtown...it's such an awesome sight coming down that road and seeing downtown looming.

Is the tower finished? Shouldn't this thread be moved to the completed section if it is?

when standing right below the stairs, the tower completely overtakes your senses and it is all you can see. the stairs going up, all lit up are fantastic so i am very partial to this side of the building because of its immensity. to stand at its foot is the only true way you can judge or appreciate this tower or the angle in question.

It's not done yet. The exterior has been done for a while, but the inside and plaza are still under construction.

Agreed on photos don't do it justice--does the analogy of the camera adding 10 pounds work on skyscrapers? lol It's really awesome to see in person from all angles anywhere you're driving in the city. I'm from Saskatoon, but have been in town a few times during the construction of it. My wife bugs me about how giddy I get about The Bow when we're there haha.

Many of us Calgary forumers have been getting a Bow-ner over this one

Agreed. it's not the same in photos as in real life...I'm not sure why. One thing about the Bow is that it looks different from every angle.
