Greek Food Fest today,

Greek Food Festival on Bannock today and Saturday.

Hopefully I can get more pics later, like pics of gyros and dancing girls. You prefer the dancing girls? OK.

So big it warrants live TV coverage.

Local celebrity Gebert lending a hand.

And, don't forget, they have this.

Nice. Is that the main Greek church in Boise?

Yeah, that is their main church. There is a Russian Orthodox Church near this one, but there aren't as many Greek or Russian Orthodox in Boise as there are Basque Catholics.

Yeah, I was kinda wondering why that church was so small compared to the Salt Lake one. But it's still a cool looking one, I like those smaller neighborhood churches.

I think "back in the day" Salt Lake had more Greek immigrants than Boise did. Boise has the largest Basque population outside of Spain and France, so that makes up for the smaller Greek population.

Yeah I know Boise has a large Basque population, as does Salt Lake. Greeks though do make up a large part of Salt Lake's past, which is why we have so many damn Greek restaurants. haha

I think I've asked before, but don't remember.. Does Boise have a higher basque population than Bakersfield? Lot's of basque influence in Bakersfield.

Boise has the largest Basque population in the USA.

Numbering about 15,000, Boise's Basque community is the largest Basque community in the United States and the third largest in the world outside Argentina and the Basque Country in Spain and France.[6] A large Basque festival known as Jaialdi is held once every five years (next in 2010). Downtown Boise features a vibrant section known as the "Basque Block". Boise's mayor, David H. Bieter, is of Basque descent.
