LC Corp has been given the green light for the development of the Sky Tower complex in Wrocław. A subsidiary of LC Corp – Wrocław Nieruchomości – has been granted a building permit for the office-retail-residential project, which is to replace the Poltegor building on ul. Powstańców Słaskich, ul. Gwiażdzista and ul. Szczęśliwa. The new complex will comprise 7 buildings with a total area of more than 260,000 sqm, as well as a 220m residential tower – the tallest in Poland.

Very nice. How much dominance does Wroclaw have in Poland? Seems like it getting tall towers for a city that may not be very big (or is that a mistake on my part?).

Grunwaldzki Center looks amazing. If only Stockholm had enough LRt/trams to need something like that... The towers shown also look sweet, i'd love to see such going up in my hood

City has about 650.000 inhabitants. It is the fastest growing city in Poland, in terms of poulation and economically speaking - one big construction site. It is located in Lower Silesia province, its GDP in the last 6 months grew by 11%. It's by far the best managed city in Poland and the region is becoming a high tech mecca for many international companies. It's already one of the biggest centers of white goods manufacturing in Europe and in 2 years it will be the center of flat panel manufacturing in Europe.

I would place Wroclaw right after Warsaw in terms of future economic importance and development.

Sky Tower looks great and the height is fantastic. I wonder if it will be the only skyscraper in that area or the others will be nearby?

I also don't understand why Leszek Czarnecki decided to remove Poltegor Centre. Maybe it was cheaper to replace quite old building than to buy a new area? I think that after complex reconstruction, Poltegor could serve as another CBD centre.

City authorities planned for this area to become a new business hub (CBD). There is no other CBD planned (as far as I know). The company had performed a structural analysis and some business modelling and refurbishing the old Poltegor was simply cost-prohibitive. So they tore it down to make space for a new development.

Here is something interesting. When they sifted through the rubbles they found so many different cables that nobody knew nothing about that they came to a conclusion that every room in Poltegor must have been bugged !
