Didn't want to give the impression that they were only putting the last touches on the suites!

This is really ridiculous how long its taking to finish this building. Does anyone know whats going on? There doesnt seem to be any change in over a year.

And whats with the mix matched colour of spandrel???? seriously our social housing projects look better than this

Two page article on the Georgia in today's Vancouver Sun's Westcoast Homes section. Quotes from the article:

“We spent countless hours on both the interior ( and) exterior of the building, making sure one facet does not compromise the other.”

"The Private Residences, which Langereis says average $ 2.45 million, are being sold with the assistance of four beautifully outfitted show homes, all on the 25th floor."

"Occupancy: Tentatively late 2012 or early 2013"

Something's happening. Yesterday and today many of the upper floors have had lights on in the evening. I guess they are still doing some interior work, but this is still a sign of progress after months of total darkness. Actually it feels strange to see this building now at least partially litten up.

Drywall's in and painters have been busy this week. Some millwork can be seen strewn across many of the suites, also.

Just wait until the move-in date six or seven or eight years from now and the first people start hanging blinds.

It ain't beautiful, for sure, but I think people sort of rooted for it because it was a high-rise where a highrise needed to be.

Personally, I preferred the original "crystal" design better as far as appearance overall, but there were negative things about it, stuff happened, and we ended up with this.

I don't think it's ugly, but the differing blue of the spandrel and the glass bothers me: looks a bit tasteless. Also, I would like the windows to have been a bit more reflective, so I didn't get the feeling I was looking into someone's living room.

But it's here for a while, so we have to learn to like it in any event.

Also, the "bevelled" effect adds to it. Don't think so? Imagine if it were conventionally straight-sided in the vertical context.

This development is a bit of a disaster, similar to what the Jameson House was (legal standpoint)
The Developer is being sued by the buyers and sales have been poor, hence the no-rush to finish this thing.
Only 96 sales out of 156 units in all these years.

Thanks for the article, TwoFace!

I have mixed feelings about this building. I like how it seems tall when looked from street level and I also like the appearances from down there. It's from distance that I have my problem with this building and it looks just too heavy and wide. Just the worry I have with the Beach&Howe project...

I like the color of glass in this building and I think it may look pretty good once people have moved in and it doesn't look all empty like now.

Hm. Does this mean we're going to have a sort of empty, "ghost building" looming downtown. Won't do much for the CBD ambience like that, will it?

They seem to have now some kind of "light show" on the crown element, which is alternately illuminated in red and blue. I don't know if that is all there is going to be, but it looks pretty poor to me...
