It may have been a Visions - then a temporary Royal Bank while Crossroads was being built.

That's the former caban location, right?
So one of the only modern steel and glass facades on South Granville has been replaced?

The Tristan location in Pacific Centre is all boarded up and the Esprit location next door is losing out (selling fixtures).
(add that to the Underground location in Pacific Centre closing out).

yes - need to get a pic - its quite the transformation - the inside is also unrecognizable - still looks modern though - they moved the staircase too

hmm i wonder whats going on - they apparently have a lot of US retailers wanting to move in - most notably Victoria's Secret and Pink - they take up huge floor space together usually

The Esprit location on Robson is also selling fixtures. It doesn't say it's closing though. Just preparing for a reno?

Actually - not sure of the Pacific Centre Espirit says closing out - but it is selling fixtures.

+++++

Walked through Vancouver Centre for the first time in a while -

The Food Fair is completely gone (forever) - replaced by a health club. The woman at the tailor shop said a pizza place would be opening in the mall soon (so the food selection will be that and the Tim Horton's).

Also, the base of the staircase from West Georgia (next to Scotiabank at street level) has a big open space now with bar height tables. Not sure where the food will come from though, as the pizza place will likely be a ways away down the mall. Doesn't quite look grand enough for a downtown mall.

There's also a new lottery booth at the main juncture of the mall (near Scotiabank at mall level).

yeah i was in there last friday and noticed some changes seems much brighter but quite empty - i used to like that food court cause it was always quieter than the one at pacific centre and you could escape the crowds

Free burritos at Mucho Burrito on Davie between 11 am and 2 pm tomorrow.

I had one today. It was basically what I remembered from Edmonton.

Good, worth the money, but somewhat less flavourful than Red Burrito.

The salsa has no fillers though!

Too bad Tristan closed. It was a good Canadian alternative to the mass market American chains.

There's a big FOR LEASE sign on the Robson location so yeah they're going too.
Also there's a new Bell opening up on the Robson side of Atelier (400 block).
That makes only 2 small units available left in the building. They're continuing to work on the large retail space on the corner. Still no signage to indicate what it will be but except 2 large photos of women a la Black Swan.

NO! I like Esprit

Mucho Burrito was really good the management people were very friendly and due to it being a sunny day they attracted many people.

tax free shopping at superstore tonight 5pm - 11pm - saved $5.15

but its seriously a zoo - i think everybody thinks its the end of the world

anyway I went to the superstore on marine drive in vancouver - the reno is almost complete only the seadfood section and a bit there needs to be finished it looks like - store looks great - much brighter better layout

looks like they are setting up to renovate the store in coquitlam now - was out there earlier this afternoon...

and there is now a CORA - that breakfast chain that everyone raves about - I think its from calgary? its in the strip mall where the giant safeway store is in coquitlam

Just got back from Superstore around 10pm. I didn't buy a lot of groceries but still managed to "save" a few bucks.
I guess I am just kidding myself as in reality Superstore has increased the price of a lot of items especially food. So my pocket still has less money left.
McDonald also seems to have increased the price of meal. A McChicken meal cost me $7.16 today. No wonder they are doing a $1 cool drink/coffee promotion now.

Only the cheap menu is a value at McDonalds. Everything else is overpriced for what you get. They have a 20% profit margin, which goes to show how much you're actually being ripped off. That is very high for a food service business. Even a place like Starbucks, which seems more over-priced, actually has half the profit margin.

Mcdonalds actually doesnt have that great of a profit on their sandwhiches, but rather all their combos, fries and basically anything non-burger/sandwhich.

Also one could say that Mcdonalds gives you good value because Time=Money

While we're on the subject, this is the 'new look' for McDonald's I guess:
