Apparently Bulk Excavation at Ultra is going to get going this week as all the Environment Sediment Control work has been done.

They are also planning the official groundbreaking ceremony in the next 2 weeks, with Mayor Dianne Watts officiating.

The first phase of sales has closed, which was needed to get the construction financing finalized. I think will be opening a new Sales Center fronting 104 ave judging by the large amount of digging going on there and will re-open sales from that location.

That's where it should've been in the first place. While nice to have a sales unit pre-built, the two low-rises aren't that visible or accessable from 104th without them already being your destination.

Lots happening on site, dump trucks have been moving dirt non-stop for days now. Looking forward to see their groundbraking with the Mayor tomorrow morning (Saturday April 16th) at noon. This taken from the 4th floor of my building, which should be a good spot to record the growth from.

That will be an excellent vantage point from which to share photos of the project's progress. Thank you in advance.

I did but I forgot my camera and left my phone (with camera) at home. It was quite a sight and I saw it on CTV last night as well. They had the Mayor and three Presidents (WestStone, Metro-Can and WestStone USA) dig the first shovel to break ground and then, with lots of film set smoke, flashes and dramatic music, the big excavator came through the smoke to dig the first bucketful. Very good event and welcome to Surrey city centre's highest building

I'm sure there will be lots of pictures floating around and I can go to their sales centre (which is still closed) to ask the girls if they can email me something.

Jesus, you would think with all that fanfare they were breaking ground on one of their 200m+ fantasy proposals...

To be fair, this is going to be the tallest tower in the city when completed, it's the first major residential project directly adjacent to the civic centre, and it also represents (I think) the beginnings of a second chance at a sustainable and aesthetically compelling urban form, after the missed opportunity that was (and is) the Infinity/Park Place complex - with its poor street-level integration, bland exterior, gargantuan scale, and inward-looking architecture. The latter, whatever its merits (residential density for the most part), feels quite a bit like the "old" Surrey; I think most people feel that Ultra points the city more sure-footedly in a new direction. Here's hoping anyways.

Actually, if i am not mistaken, it will not be the tallest tower in Surrey. This tower will only be 102 meters tall while Central City is 112 meters tall.
