Denver - 1900 Sixteenth Street

I'd say it warrants its own thread.

As usual, photo rendering is courtesy of denverinfill.com(Click photo to enlarge):

Trammel Crow begins work on $100M LoDo project

The Denver Business Journal
by Paula Moore

The Trammell Crow Co. of Denver has broken ground on the $100 million first phase of its 1900 Sixteenth Street office building in downtown Denver's Central Platte Valley, according to the developer.

The project's initial phase will include an 18-story, 335,000-square-foot building at 16th and Delgany streets. It will include some 10,000 square feel of first-floor retail space, as well as about 1,200 parking spaces on three underground levels and three levels above ground.

The structure is scheduled to be completed in late 2008.

The project's owner is Multi-Employer Property Trust, a Washington, D.C.-based pooled real estate equity fund with $6.8 billion in assets.

Bill Mosher, principal at Trammell Crow in Denver, has said the 1900 Sixteenth Street building is distinctive because it will be a 250-foot tower, and there aren't many of those in Lower Downtown Denver. It's also well located, being across from the Denver Union Station transportation hub.

Also planned for the project are a 10-story office building that would be phase two, and a third phase including eight levels of condominiums atop the parking garage, according to DenverInfill.com.

David Tryba of Tryba Architects designed the Class AA building, which will be LEED certified by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Asking office rents at the new building are $26 to $28 per square foot per year, according to OfficeSpace.com.

Yeah, that would be great... If you could com in on Saturday, that would be great...

Seriously though, looks like another tower crane for downtown!

This is great news. Another ground breaking moment. And an 18 story office tower to boot.

Man oh man that sure is a purddy lookin building right der I tell you what!!!

No seriously I love it I think I would prefer 10-15 of these 15-25 story towers all over the city vs one new tallest! Although eventually Denver does need to leave the 80's and reclaim the skyline with something more "up to date" with some major height now that we have no limits in the CBD!!! We all know Denver's taller buildings could have been more, but Stapleton was too close! BOOO!!! Oh well in time, things are really taking place for this City and the way I see it? We will not have to wait long for a new tallest or two or THREE to become a reality.....

This/these tower(s) will make a nice addition to the area.....

It's a big hole in the ground right now.. mainly shoring work. I'll try to snap a pic next time I leave my place (although it's some damn cold I don't see me getting much past Mcloughlins in the near future ).

They where out there working today (maybe because of the impending snow?)... went by at like 6:30 and a guy was still out moving dirt with just the light on his front end loader.

Very cool.
