It must be the Asian equivalent to Denny's. Not saying it has shitty food, but having to deal with drunken idiots every night.

by the sounds of it drunken idiots make up a pretty lucrative demo for these places. Its kind of like the shawarma king, except I eat there sober as well.

Question, the wife and I have the night off from Littletime. What's a good place to hit up for some dinner walking distances from arriVa?

I've already checked with Charcut and they are booked right up.

When I say walking distances we'd travel as far east as 8th street SW no problem.

Maybe check out the 'Big Taste Calgary' website and see if any of the menus interest you guys. $35 for supper or $85 at some places for meal with wine pairings.

Curious about sushi on the downtown core (CBD) for lunch. What are the best places?

Sukiyaki House in PennWest has some amazing rolls. I could eat 3 dozen of there spicy tuna or spicy salmon everytime I go. Awesome! Some of the best Gyoza I've had and the Spicy Prawn appy is excellent.

I don't think anyone has gone broke pandering to the drunken idiot demographic.

Guys, I know Singapore Sam's is shit- that's why I was so amazed at how fucking orgasmic this fried rice was. I can't really explain what compelled me to order in, but here we are. Try it.

Wooster- Seconding Sukiyaki House, but IMHO the best sushi in the core (sort of) is the TINY Sushi and Co. at 683 10 St SW. There's only one table, a tiny table, with four seats, at least that was the setup last time I was there, but if you can snag it or get it to go and eat it quickly- city hall is too far a jog I think- it's amazing.

If you are looking for something high end, have you been to Olives, which of course is in your building? I took some clients there for lunch, and the food was quite good. I had the company credit card so wasnt too concerned about price.

Went to El Sombrero last night and it was really good. If you're partial to mexican food it might be a good choice. The acapulco style ceviche was excellent. No las palmeras (red deer) but still good.

I always like The Living Room as well, and it is pretty laid back for the quality of the food. Not too trendy anymore so can usually get in as well!

Yup we've been a few times (including a night about 6 hours before Littletime decided it was time to meet the world!). I've always enjoyed it, very nice food and the price is not too bad, but definitely on the higher side.

I haven't been to El Sombrero in so many years, it's the one above Ming right? I remember really enjoying the food there.

Appreciate all the suggestions! We are thinking perhaps a stroll down Stephen Avenue and see what sounds best.

I don't know what it is, but I'm a fucking magnet for those folks. Been approached twice lately while waiting for the #73 in the early morning.

So we went for a walk down Stephen Avenue last night, and ended up having dinner at Divino. A very nice meal.

Do they always have the back alley open for burgers? It was empty last time I walked past there.
