South Asian Restaurants

HIMALYA RESTAURANT, 160 CENTENNIAL PARKWAY N.

without a doubt, indian food is my favourite cuisine. i developed a taste for it during a three month trip to the sub-continent a few years ago. in spite of contracting dysentery and losing 30 lbs during my stay my passion for the food and people persists.

there are many south asian eateries around town but this one stands out above the rest. it is the most authentic of the lot offering a purely vegetarian, north indian menu. the restaurant is located in a strip mall and is not pretty to look at both on the outside and in, but that’s besides the point isn’t it? it’s all about the food and himalya takes the cake. oh ya and it’s cheap, too. dinner for two with drinks [no liquor licence, of course] should run you about $20. check it out and enjoy.

Wow, that's literally right across the street from my office!!
I'll definately have to pop in and check it out sometime!
Any suggestions for 1 person with a limited amount of time to eat?

Love the Himalaya, have for years. I always used to bug them about opening a second place downtown, but I guess they never did.

Hey, after some nice Indian grub you can go watch the rippers next door!

D'oh! Shows you how much I know.

Come to think of it, there was always a conspicuous lack of cars in the parking lot at that place whenever we drove by, so I should have surmised that it wasn't in business on my own.
