A lot of opinion on this one. I have to agree also, mediocre exterior design. It will be nice, but nothing Earth shattering from an architectural or design standpoint.

I really don't understand the need for people who don't live here to bash the city based on this one design. Go troll somewhere else...

WFS does not look like public housing and once the rest of the waterfront up there is developed its not just going to be a "lil" secondary skyline, its going to be a completely new 2nd skyline, bigger than say Columbus?

The design is not the most progressive, no. But I like it better than say SH, (which isn't say much I know), and like I said, once BVT and the rest of WFS is done, plus whatever else they build there its going to be fine...

Looking at both, I think it is the same design. Facing the city is the boxy side. The curvy side is facing the river.

Yeah, the less-than-inspiring design took some hits when the building was first announced. I'll still believe it when I see it with all the rumors stirring about on things getting underway soon.

From the satellite photos it looks like it is right in the middle of a shabby industrial area...not exactly the place where you would expect a Trump Tower.

Well, right now it does...but there are still many plans to reinvent the Philadelphia waterfront. In a few years that might be exactly where one would expect a trump to rise....who knows?

Who is bashing the city because of this design? I have seen more comments saying that Philly is a great city and deserves better, than 'Philly bashing' comments. And WFS DOES look like 'projects'..and alot of people in Philly agree-check out the WFS thread. I have not seen anyone 'trolling' either-if anything you should quit being such a homer. Funny how you are complaining about people 'hating' yet your post is the most negatively directed towards other posters.

True. That's what it is right now. But in a few years...

There are plans for a completely revamped Delaware waterfront with biking and jogging trails, new highrises and a casino. Whether any of this comes to fruition or not remains to be seen. We've seen lots of pie in the sky promises for the Delaware River area before. But Trump Tower, despite its lackluster design, is part of the process.

No....it's an area in transition bordering a neighborhood in that is rapidly improving. It's a smart place for Trump to build. That satellite picture is old.

judging by the new model i'd say this tower would look pretty nice if it had a fancy elaborate crown rather than a generic blocky one

The design is far from great and the location is not, either, but that's at this exact point in time. I give Trump credit for putting his name on a project in an area that not's exactly the best. In a few years, however, once the casino and BVT are built, and the area is transformed, I'm sure Trump will have the last laugh. Good investment.
