As I posted over on C2E, The old Boots & Saddles/ Garage Burger Bar has been leased by the owners of Prism, they hope to have the restoraunt up & running in amonth or so and are expanding the patio. The bar will open shortly thereafter and be a gender inclusive bar, plus they are looking at re-opening the rooftop patio if they can get structural approval.

Deb & Tracy are very picky restoraunteurs, I expect the fare at the new place to be very good.

Ah, that's good to hear.

I never liked working in that kitchen - the way it was.

Had to google this Prism place. I had no idea there's a lesbian bar across from EPCOR tower. Weren't they on Calgary Trail at one point?

Prism is actually the only lesbian bar in Canada at this point. It used to be Secrets, which was located in a building behind Boots but moved when the building was torn down. IT's been at the 101st location for about 6 years.

I am a bit sad to see it go, My good friend Cindy owned & ran that place for years. The worst part about it was the location. You couldn't stand outside for more than a second without being bombarded with bums demanding cigarettes, change etc. God forbid you should have a few too many and have to leave your car there overnight

The move is good, I think. If anyone can run the Garage/Boots space to its' maximum potential, Deb & Tracy can.

Anyone eaten at Culina Highlands yet? Looks pretty good, and I love the small commercial component they are set up in. Did they take over 'Bacon'? Seems to have some good reviews too it appears.

^yes took over Bacon.

It is such a cute little corner.... now if only that bank and parking lot could become another establishment.

Kind of...there was a split between business partners, and one side had a better contingency plan involving a relative with a solid restaurant pedigree.

Yeah that that bank+parking lot is crying out for more. They used to have a little farmers market every now and then but it's been ages so I don't know if it's still happening. I think more than anything that the city should look into the possibility of upzoning some houses along 112ave to include restaurant and retail uses (ala 'Chickies'). Think about going to a culina's calibre restaurant in a little old bungalow and eating in a backyard surrounded by a picket fence...a higher-end kensington market but with the highland's down to earth appeal.

Yes and we did not enjoy the food or "atmosphere"... No theme at all. Menu a dogs breakfast.

^was there today for lunch with an infamous SSP'r.

Decor - awesome
Daylighting - awesome
Staff - awesome
Menu - limited but enough (barely)
Prices - on the side of expensive but acceptable (under $15 each)
Portions - smaller
Wait time - LONG
Social Seating - love it, but it was obvious that many were uncertain as to the procedure

I will be back
