From the Yangtze shore in Wuchang u have a great view on Hankou and Hanyang. The skyline may not be very dense yet, but things will change drastically during the next 5 years (Wuhan CBD, Wuhan Tiandi, Splendid Yangtze Phase II and III =>see Zorg's Construction Thread in the City/Metro Compilations Section).
Holiday Inn Hotel - One of Wuhan's earliest highrises during the reform era
Qingshan is Wuhan's base of Heavy Industry. Almost everyone living here seems to be connected to "Wuhan Steel" (aka "Wugang" / "WISCO") or one of its' countless subbranches in some way. As there is not so much (cityscape-wise) interesting to see here yet, I am only posting a view pics of the Qingshan riverside and its' gigantic new bridge under construction...
Parts of Qingshan including the new Tainxingzhou-Bridge as seen in Google Earth
(the heavy smoke is coming from WISCO and SINOPEC)
I am not sure about the actual heigth of those pylons, but believe me when I say they are FREAKIN' high...
Here u can see how the bridge crosses a quite big island in the middle of the river - Tianxingzhou
It's extremely cool to see all those quality pictures of Wuhan(A city which is not much represented here.)
Maybe a silly question but do you live in Wuhan? It seemed like you knew where the construction was going on etc.
Anyway, this thread don't get enought attention. It was by randomnes I clicked on the Asia-Pacific section, now I'am glad I did. I'll try to visit it more often.
Glad u like the thread. Adressing ur question: Well, I do not exactly live in Wuhan now, but I did so for more than a year back in 2005/2006. As my wife is from Wuhan I am still going there every year. So, I guess I am quite familiar to the city.
