While the other series were about buildings and history, this is mostly about the people of Istanbul. I'm highlighting 2 key areas that demonstrate the rich tapestry of cultures that once typified Istanbul...most of which is gone but a few remnants. All photos, except Google Aerials are by me.
Ortakoy (Middle Village" Istanbul is really a city of villages. Ortakoy is a very popular area with locals. It is fronted by a mosque by the architect Sinan, a ferry station and numerous shops.
More fanatastic photos of one of the world's most fascinating and beguiling cities... you really capture the rich variety of modern Turkey... wonderful!

Well, I got all excited that there was a new Istanbul thread that I hadn't seen before, only to realize that it's yet another 5 year old thread that IMBY has drudged back to life. Please stop dude. Reviving an old threat once in a while is no big deal, but seriously reviving 20 five year old threads every single day is just getting out of hand!
(Not to disparage the pictures of course -- great set)
It is truely impressive. I also find the pix of the stepped street scape......eye candy. Instan...no..bul is one of the best, urban mix, on the planet!!!
