I was driving north on King St the other day and saw a great potential shot of the bauer building rising above the trees directly ahead.. and you could see right through it. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera, I'll try again in a few days but someone feel free to beat me to it

Beautiful shots....quite dramatic
The building looks graceful, rising as a swan would in the dawn of morning.... ...to reign over her subjects
It deserves an award.

Really? When you look at it, you don't just see increased traffic concerns for already over-crowded Park Street?

Good point , however, considering the location of the Bauer Building that being directly on the corner of King and Allen St. drivers will be able to turn directly off King into the complex and use Caroline st. to exit. The front entrance of the building will face Kitchener.
The impact of extra traffic will not directly affect Park St.It is an ideal situation...from a layman's point of view.

I agree. I really think that they need to bury those ugly hydro wires. I remember reading a while back (seems like 2-3 years now) that the City was planning on doing this and extending the new decorative streetlights seen on Willis Way Uptown all of the way down King to Union Street. That would make this corner look even better once the Bauer Lofts are done. I wonder what happened to these plans...

By the way, welcome to SSP:Local Waterloo Region urban!ty!

Photo Update!

I think that it's long overdue that we had an update of some photos on here, so I went out and about today

Both cranes are now gone.

The crane hole in the smaller building! The smaller red crane has been removed. It happened within the last couple of days, as I recall seing it here earlier this week.

My favourite shot.

A little more of the detail on the windows at the top...

The progress is going pretty good.. They have a projected move in date for floors 2-6 for end of april and then 8 weeks later 6-12. Hope they make those dates it seems like forever this project has been going on with all the setbacks they have had.

CIBC Wood Gundy

I heard a rumor that CIBC Wood Gundy is considering consolidating it's Kitchener and Waterloo offices to the Bauer Lofts. Seems to be happening from what i have heard.

Nice land for Bauer imo.

Some shots I took while out and about today. I wonder if they'll paint the underside of the balconies or just leave them as is? I've also noticed that the bricks always look like they're a little wet.

I was there yesterday also took some shots from the inside of the building I wanted to see what they looked like. They got 4 or 5 flora drywalled already and most of the pluming fixtures are in.

I'm sure they'll paint them. (At least I hope) It's par for the course for them to wait until the last minute to do that.

What's up with the southside? Are those CRU's, or what? If so, I'm not pumped about the overhang.

paint the balcony...no way

What!

I own a unit there and would not be happy if the cement were painted.
That is not good design!

Even now I've had second thoughts about the inside ceilings(it was optional) being painted, remembering that they are supposed to have a industrial/loft look.
Painting the underside opens a can of worms...do we paint the edge/sides...what colour and what about the columns do we paint them also? Ridiculous!...

The railings are now being installed. Would have preferred tinted glass but the silver grey is acceptable.

Ya I am nervous what they are putting under the overhang, I hope it isn't cheap looking. As for the balconies I am on the fence about painting them. Bauer_buyer I was in there on the weekend on the 4th floor and a lot of people had drywalled ceilings with potlights. And the walls went right up to the ceiling were I thught they would only go 8 ft with a 2 foot gap to give it that loft look. I am at work now so I can't chen my upgrdes but I thought the ceilings were supposed to be concerete. Can't remember if drywalling it was a option. But every unit I saw had it I think. I am on the 12th floor so I can't check my unit cause it isn't at that stage yet.

I'm watching them put the railings up right now they're... ok. Look good on the inside ones, but the ones where the railing has to make a corner could be better.

imo you need at least 3 feet above an 8 foot wall to really get the right look, so with only 10 feet walls to the ceiling are the right way to go. The walls will look tall and glamorous, as opposed to a small opening.

Were the interiors really supposed to have concrete ceilings???

Hi Bauer123
...yes drywalling was an option and somewhat costly too...not too sure what the cost was per sq.ft but it wasn't cheap; I think they lower the ceilings when drywalling it
...yes there were just a few which were drywalled but most of the units I saw were left untouched and the ceilings were indeed 10'
...concern I had was should the ceiling be painted...eventually I went with it noting that most units I saw were painted as well.
...took another walk around to day as well and I am content with the railings...baked enamel and all....the architect knew what he was designing, however, the higher floors might be intimidating to some...tempered glass would have been nice but...

I can't remember if I picked to have my ceilings painted. I can't find it on my upgrades package. But i did find the drywall ceiling upgrade. it's 6$ sq.ft. I got it in my master spa with 3 lights tho. What color did you pick or is it just a standard colour? Maybe I should email the guy about that.

As for the balconies ya they look alright but I agree being up high it may itemidate some people.
