Hamilton Food trucks

I was reading through the Toronto Star online when I came across this article. I have heard nothing about it in Hamilton media so here it is.

HAMILTON—Welcome to Steeltown, henceforth to be known as Food Truck Town.

This feisty city of 500,000 is poised to welcome two trailblazing food trucks dishing out gourmet cupcakes and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Natalie Ravoi’s Cupcake Diner should start this week. You can’t miss it — it’s the pink Dodge Sprinter.

Graeme Smith and Scott Austin expect their branded Gorilla Cheese truck to arrive next month. It will be big, black, emblazoned with gorillas, and prowling the city by July.

The Spec had an article on the Gorilla Cheese food truck on May 19th:

They ran an article on the Cupcake Diner food truck the same day:

The articles appeared in the food section of GO so they could easily be missed as this section is deeply buried in the awkward online edition of thespec

Yep I missed it. I never read that section of the Spec. Thanks for the info, I'll check it out if I can find it on their site.

Had a 3 cheese grilled on multi grain the other day. It was good and the cheese was real cheese. The bread was fresh and thick as Texas toast.
But it just seemed odd and many of my friends commented $8.50 was a bit steep. For a catering truck.
Gave it a try and not sure if I would repeat the process. It was OK, but to stand out in the cold and wait.
Might do better at festivals and events. And in the summer.

I have been watching the articles on food trucks especially in Hamilton.
I read that the partnership of Gorilla Cheese has not gone well as different ideas.
I read that one side was thinking of catering and also an establishment for the servicing and preparation for the industry.
Like a drive in for the truck and there would be a dish washing area, food prep and general cleaning facilities.
Sounded like a good idea and I forgot about it.
Friday I was passing the TV around supper and they were discussing the same idea and how the city of Columbus had provided start up education, training, business advice and support. They also set up a warehouse that had separate areas with ovens, pot cleaning areas, and enough room to clean the vehicles and load and unload. Maybe even a central location for resupply.
I bet there are enough empty warehouses to provide this facility. Just proper hygiene and sanitation.
Let the city provide an area to set up in the giant lot beside Wiliams. For the summer.

If this what you mean, it already exists in Hamilton. There was an open house on Friday.
