BTW, had brunch at the Bauer Kitchen on the weekend. Absolutely terrible. Cold eggs and congealed Hollandaise sauce. An embarassment really.

Another Charcoal Group food failure. I don't know why they can open beautiful restaurants and serve such bad food.

That makes 2 new breakfast places in Uptown (Cora's and BK) that charge too much and serve bad food.

Sigh.
Have you had a bad experience at Cora's? Once?

Because it's actually great food. It's famed for a reason!

I have had a bad meal at Cora's and I found the prices to be out of line for the quality that was served. I am not alone in this. The majority of my foodie friends have had negative Cora experiences at the Uptown location.

I feel that most of the restaurants in the core do not bother trying very hard to make their food good. If I want to pay that much for a gourmet breakfast I'll head over to Rise & Shine which has been top notch each time at a lower price.

My other complaint about the Bauer Kitchen is the wine list. I love the fact that they have the nitrogen sealing system which will allow them to serve lots of wines by the glass. But then they create a very generic wine list without much appeal. I was especially disappointed to see that there were so few Ontario wines available by the glass. Niagara has some fantastic wineries and it would be nice to see a local restaurant supporting our neighbours down the QEW. Uptown 21 certainly does this and I have discovered some lovely new vintages because of dining there. BK is in a prime position to expand the horizons of KW diners but if they don't put in the effort it will all go to waste.

Both Cora's and BK need to try harder. Just because you are in Uptown does not give you licence to charge more for substandard food.

Well, I basically agree with the rest of your post, but, on the last point, as long as people continue to patronize the place, it kind of does.

I didn't like the wine list at BK. They gave their own name to the wines. That might be a fun novelty, but if I like it, I want to know what to look for at the LCBO. It's a childish feature for an upscale restaurant imo.

I think the idea is they don't want you to go to the LCBO, they want you to come back and have some more of their wine at their restaurant. In any case, it does sound kind of tacky

Is the American Apparel (TM) store on Willis Way close to opening?

Hey,

The Tallest U/C In Your City thread has been reactivated recently and in hopes of updating the list I am going from city thread to city thread to see if the tallest under construction has changed recently.

I currently have the Baue Lofts listed as the tallest in Kitchener-Waterloo. If this is completed or something taller is underway just message me or post it here and I'll add it to the list.

Performing Arts Centre - Cambridge

I'm wondering if anyone has any information on the new performing arts centre that is suppose to be built in Cambridge beside the Outlet Mall. I saw an article on it about a month ago with the renderings and design concept. But i haven't been able to find much other information since. As far as i know from the article the project is still a go.

I wasn't sure where to post this question as there is no general construction page for Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge.

Also whats with the lack of discussion going on here in KW forum? is nothing happening there?

There's a thread on the Cambridge Performing Arts Centre now over here - http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=189704

As for the lack of discussion, it's not at all that there's nothing happening here, people just aren't talking about it. Maybe it needs a bit of a jump start to get people talking?

Im assuming there was a name in there like WW that was blocked.

Things seem to be slowing down over there too over the past couple months.

/\ Hmm... there you go. And yes, I guess it did block it. I tried again using different vernacular this time.
