It's the love of the city that keeps you there!

has anyone been over to the lot to see if they've done any site preps yet? maybe get a pic

whats amazing about the height is that with the antenna it is 842 feet but the top of the building is only 716 feet. that's a big difference. that's why i never include the antenna when compairing the actual height of the building.

also, i will cry if this beautiful building, with its wonderful height, does not get built. It's a project that you can look forward to watching as it grows into the skyline over the next few years. and everyone who drives through on the freeway will see it. And as you all know, New Orleans has one of the best views of the skyline from the freeway!!!

Emporis isn't the best source, but this is what it says,
"Although it will be listed as having 70 floors, the tower will not have a 13th floor resulting in the official count of 69 floors.
Floors 1-2 will contain retail; floors 3-15 will be parking; floors 18-32 would be a 435-unit condo hotel; and floors 39-69 will contain 299 condominium units."

While I think it's a gorgeous building, and will do wonders for NO's skyline, it does look an awful lot like Chicago's, if that is in fact the final design...

I never expected it to be a copy of Chicago's, but I still like the height and the building's spire is cool.

This is great news considering the current state of the economy. I know the project has been pushed back, but it looks like it isn't dead. At least we have a ton of apartments going up in the city. It's nice seeing some new construction coming up.

They watched someone get mugged one night, and another guy get stabbed the next night, and this was in the "safe" area. All of them being from New Orleans, and have never even seen a robbery in Nola. As we know, Denver has a great image, so dont down New Orleans like that. If anything, Nola can use the tax revenue from the Tower, and just the idea that the city is growing and making progress. If you haven't visit Nola, which i assume you haven't, I recommend you do, maybe not politically, but culturally, it is by far one of the best cities in the US
My work requires me to drive to Fourchon regularly, so I go through NOLA pretty often.

Still a parking lot right now. Just up the road a 21 floor apartment building is going up at 930 Poydras...and it is being built by a local guy. Go figure. Trump NOLA is just another casualty of the recession.

I'm a realist---this project is a ways away if it does happen. The credit crunch has destroyed projects like this across America.

I've deleted some posts here that were off topic and trollish. If you can't stick to the topic then don't bother replying.

I figured this tower was dead... too many forces working against it in today's economy and credit disaster. But the fact that it has not been officially killed is somewhat encouraging to me. They are still advertising, and they have deposits for over 60% of the building. So, perhaps they are giving it one final push.

One idea that I thought was interesting that perhaps they could try with this tower is something going on in a resort community near Orlando, FL. They are issuing Visas and Green Cards to foreign investors who buy property in that development. Certainly an interesting and perhaps controversial incentive, but interesting nonetheless. Reportedly, most of the response is coming from Russian investors.

So, perhaps some foreigners who would like to have a condo in New Orleans could save this project. I'm sure they haven't considered such a step, but perhaps they should. It is not dead yet, evidently... but I'd think it is close.

Something interesting I noticed

So there has been no official word on the tower for over a year now, however I just noticed that recently the website, which has remained untouched for 3 years, was recently updated - slightly. The neighborhood amenities/ restaurants section is all new. Also, the map of the surrounding neighborhood is different than in the past. Interesting, eh?

http://www.trumptowerneworleans.com/

On a sadder note, since the beginning of 2010 Bidclerk had construction for the tower planned to begin in November, but November is quietly passing.

Does anyone have an official update?

The entire site has changed. That is good news. I really want to see this tower go up in the city. A development this big hasn't happened in years.
