my vote is for this kind of post to be not in a skyscraper/development page.

Damn, it took until the second page for the whining to start.

Edmontonians are just jealous of our mascot.

Hey guys and gals, since this is Calgary the mascot HAS to be a dog. If the Flames and Stamps can have Harvey the Hound and ralph the dog as their mascots, then CT needs to have some sort of canine as well.

BTW, why the f>uck do those 2 teams have dogs for mascots anyways??

Can't speak for Harvey, but Ralph the Dog has been the dual spokescreature both for the Stampeders and North Hill Shopping Centre ever since North Hill opened in the early Sixties, just after the Stamps' 1960 arrival at McMahon from the old Mewata grounds.

Thanks. That makes sense - sort of I guess. Being a relatively recent immigrant to Calgary (1997) I never could figure out the connection between hockey, football, and a dog.

I realize it's foolhardy to rely too much on Wikipedia.. but it says:

Quote:
Harvey the Hound is the mascot of the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames. Introduced in 1983, Harvey was the first mascot in the NHL.[1] Harvey is described by the Flames as being 6'6" and 200lbs. He was acquired as the Flames "first pound draft pick" in 1983.

First acted by Glenn Street, Harvey made his debut in 1983 serving as the mascot of both the Flames and the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.1 He was later dropped by the Stampeders in favour of their own mascot, Ralph the Dog, however his popularity with the Flames was such that many teams contacted Street about making mascots for their own teams.2
Of course this seems to contradict the 'Ralph the Dog around since the 60's... like I said.. wikipedia.

I think "Tranny Transit" has a nice ring.
