Just read that both Paddlewheel river boats are running this year! I thought one had been sold? Anyway, good news to see this continue!

Winnipeg Free Press - PRINT EDITION
Royal ladies of the Red return this year
Retirement fatigue, proper water levels lure captain

By: Melissa Martin

"Winnipeg's own aquatic royalty -- the Paddlewheel Queen and the Paddlewheel Princess -- are set to roll down the river once again.

After a year off, the iconic river cruises will return to the Red River later this month, Capt. Steve Hawchuk announced on Friday. They're also going back to their roots: Instead of launching from the Alexander Docks, the boats will now board at the Redwood Docks, where Hawchuk started the business in 1969."

I occasionally see posts by him in the Calgary section. Not lately though. Ask the Calgary SSP mod Mersar, maybe he knows.

It looks like the Paddlewheel and River Rouge have swapped docks this year.

According to the River Rouge web site they are going to be at Alexander Dock which I thought was going to be closed due to the construction of the hotel in the old Harbor Master building at the dock.

Their Newflyer3 is not our Newflyer.

His posting looked intermittent at the time, as if he only posted when he was somewhere with internet access. It is possible he no longer has a computer.

I don't believe i ever recall seeing that Sandhu developments put in a proposal for the MPI lots. The pictures are small but here was another submission for the RFP put out by MPI.

Hopefully the final design will be out in the open sooner than later.

The last photo #5 is a rendering of the other lot off of St Mary. Is it supposed to be a parkade cause it doesn't look too exciting, but then it is better than the gaping hole there now.

At street level it looks like they were trying very hard to replicate Hydro Place podium/courtyard. I love the courtyard, but having an identical twin only two blocks over is a little much.

And there's just SO much about it that is otherwise... virtually non-existent in St. John's.

Stucco. ONLY stucco house I have EVER consciously noticed in St. John's.

This style of covered front step. I have seen other houses with covered front steps, but not with this style.

The bay window ONLY on the first floor. Another thing I have NEVER consciously noticed in St. John's. We usually do bay windows, on top of each other, on all three floors.

It's just pure 100% Winnipeg. I want to find out the story behind it. Maybe someone moved here from Winnipeg a built it or something?

Maybe they ordered it out of an Eaton's catalogue.
