Winter in Houston I of II

I recently moved back to Houston. The past few weeks have been pretty gloomy.

Its a pretty big city, you should know better that every city has crappy areas, and nice parts. Personally I don't think the scenes look that bad. Yes there is some grittness, but I'm thinking that was his theme. He did a nice job from what I see.

It is what it is and it is far from sterile, but thats what I like about it. Maybe I will hit up some of the nicer neighborhoods next time.

I think if you're Texan and you don't live in the panhandle, Big Country region or North Texas, then you're probably pretty depressed come winter time. His photos show the gloom of the season. Gray skies, leafless trees, fog, rain/drizzle and cold, but not bitterly cold days. We get the cold weather without the winter fun of snow. And if anything does freeze, it's nasty ice.

Really liked this one:

Houston is urban in the most fascinating, nonconventional ways, and it is gritty in the most fascinating, unconventional ways. It's like you've suddenly left the US and found yourself in an architectural amalgam of South America and Oz.

Great pix

No snow. In winter it gets up to about 60 in the afternoon and 50ish at night. We do have thunderstorms though.

Outstanding job of making a city look really depressing. I think I'll go back to bed for the rest of the day.

Yeah, maybe. There is something about houston i really like, though overall i'm into the older NE/midwest cities. Houston though seems to possess an unpretentiousness and I feel like it is evolving into something great in a very unconventional manner.

Thanks for the pics Reverberation. I like em alot.
