Jai's HONOLULU, Hawai'i photothread: ...showing off the Jewel of the Pacific!

update! more pics on page 3 and page 4 and page 5 (and probably pages 6,7,8,etc... eventually)

----------------

Aloha!

I just bought a new digital camera, some 2 years after my old one died violently on the side of a freeway (but that's another story) and decided to showcase to
the world a true hidden gem of a city: Honolulu, the most isolated major city in the world and a city I'm proud to call home

These are just some random, recent pics from my wanderings...
I'll keep adding pictures to this thread as I take 'em

Honolulu skyline and Aloha stadium:

Modern skyscrapers and historic buildings mingle:

Ala Moana

Looking Mauka (mountainwards)

You can see the cruise ships at Honolulu Harbor on the left

Ala Wai park

Ala Wai canal flowing towards Diamond Head crater

Downtown skyline from the University of Hawaii at Manoa

Honolulu skyline at night

Mahalo and a hui hou!

You can see how a height limit can be great for a city.

Beautiful place.

I was in Honolulu last February and you are correct, it is definitely a jewel. I can't wait to see more of your pictures, especially the downtown area.

First Honolulu photo thread I've seen on SSP, and you just set the bar very high. Awesome!

Honolulu is great.

I was there in August for a cruise. One of the best times I've had in my 22 year old life. Heh!

Wonderful shots! I really loved visiting 20 years ago and I always thought I would make it back, but I haven't had the opportunity. Every photo was really great, but I do think the last one is my favorite, also.
