Atlanta Overload, part one

I was lucky enough to spend the start of the New Year (Jan 2nd anyway) in Atlanta and what a wonderful city it turned out to be. I would like to thank everyone who gave me advice on what to see and where to eat, especially KevinAtl. And for anyone else who visits, the Flying Biscuit is quite a wonderful place for breakfast.

Unfortunately, for me, the day I was in Atlanta also happened to be something like the coldest day there in like five years! It barely reached 30° and was about 15° with windchill, a little out of the norm for a boy from California. But, I trudged along nevertheless and was able to take an enormous amount of pictures. I hope you enjoy!

Atlanta at 6 AM

Driving down Peachtree

The view from my hotel room!

City condos starting at 180Ks?!? Unheard of in SF!

Cranes, cranes, and more cranes...

...the ever expanding Midtown skyline

Who is that man?

Hey it's me..

Proof of the frigid conditions

A little of downtown pops into view

A reminder of home...

Ok, I am still in Georgia, right?

I've never even seen one of these in San Francisco...

Midtown is call me back...

Downtown demands notice too!

This is only Midtown!

Part two

TERRIFIC pictures! Thank you for representing Atlanta so well! I'm glad you liked it. I visited your city too for the first time this past year (actually twice, once in August and once in November) and fell in love with it. I've been meaning to post those pictures now for a long time. Oops.

WoW! Awesome! I offered advice for places to see and you are very much welcome. Now I would like to thank you for such awesome pics. You did Midtown and Virginia Highland much justice. I love the pic of the Capitol dome with the crescent moon in the background. I never tire of the views of Midtown from Piedmont. All of your pics are so good though. Bravo!!!

btw, its not so much warmer here today and plus there is precipitation forecasted. I'm glad you enjoyed the city.

Thanks for the comments! I see Atlanta get dumped on a lot, but, I really enjoyed it. The area around Midtown and Virigina Highlands was by far my favorite and the most impressive to me. With all the construction going on, I'd love to go back in a couple of years and see how things have changed.

i loved the pictures too! and youre lucky to not be here today because the snow has just fallen (and the entire city was abandoned prior, too cold to be outside). now its time to dodge the atlanta drivers that shouldn't have been issued a license.

Very Nice -- great shots of Virginia Highland. I was in Atlanta (actually Roswell) the same day i think, but it was just fly in for meetings - meeting, meeting, meeting, then fly out, no time for pics.

nice job stepper! i'm glad you enjoyed your visit and made the rounds.

man, i wish coke would donate these three buildings to georgia tech and lead the charge for a new tower - all that space consolidated into one building would be quite significant.

Great pics!!! I agree, ATL is getting more urban each day!!! It's amazing.

It looks like you stayed at the wonderful Georgian Terrace? Great place!

Did you visit Buckhead??? I noticed you had no pictures.

Imagine Buckhead within DT and MT oooh what could have been.

Great work

Good work there. It's always good to see some neighborhood pics included in a thread.
