Aha! Harls revealed.

Anyway it seems like for the 8 (holy shit!) years I've been at Carleton they have sprung up a building a year...

It's quite a shame the LRT masterpiece project fell through. There have been very incremental improvements in Carleton's architecture, but it's still pretty boring.

Ha.. that's not me, that's some other flickr dude.

I was at Carleton in 1994 (lived in Glengarry Residence with the free falling elevator). Lots has changed since then!

Took some photos on the way in today. There wasn't a rendering or information posted around the site:

The new Residence that is currently under construction is intended to accommodate 250 returning undergraduate students, who are continuing their studies in 2nd year. When completed, the building will provide 6 floors of accommodation consisting of a total of 125 two bedroom suites. All bedrooms are single occupancy. Each suite will contain a three piece bathroom and a common area furnished and equipped for the preparation of meals. Appliances in each suite will include a refrigerator and microwave oven. Students who live in the New Residence are not obligated to participate in a Residence Dining Plan but may do so if they choose. Included in the suites common area is a ‘coffee nook’ with an exterior view. Window boxes at the ends each corridor and a central 6 storey skylight will allow maximum natural light to enter the corridors. This residence will be a nice addition to our active housing district!

Carleton takes pride in the fact that the new residence building is a Green Globes Design! Green Globes Design is both a guide for integrating green design principles and an assessment protocol. Using confidential questionnaires for each stage of project delivery, the program generates comprehensive on-line assessment and guidance reports. Using Green Globes helps to design a building that will be energy and resource efficient, will achieve operational savings and be healthier place to work and live.

Finally a nice showpiece for campus. Do you have renderings for the other two buildings going up on campus?

I think Frontenac House is finally finished, though the most recent photo from Carleton is from June. I will go and take some photos next time I'm nearby.

Although the renderings look nice on the side facing inwards towards the other residence buildings the view from Colonel By drive is pretty uninspired

Stick a fork in this one!

The name of this residence is "Frontinac" following the naming convention of outlying Ottawa communities. Some parts of the building exceed my rather low expectations:

However, we still have a few rough edges:

The view from Colonel By is also pretty good and I will snap some next time I bike by...

The massive new student residence between Glengarry and Renfrew buildings is under construction - I imagine they are preparing for September occupancy.

Walked past this building almost everyday as they were building it... it's in a really interesting spot on the Carleton Campus. I think it sticks out to far towards the main road, and is very close to the other two existing residence buildings. They will have a great view of each other...

It will be a 10 story building with 434 rooms but Carleton has said that they will try to furnish it in a way that can accommodate between 550-600 students.

They are also building an addition to the residence commons at a cost of 11 million dollars. Construction started on that in late January, early February if memory serves me correctly.

New Residence Building

They have yet to decide a name for this building, but it should be ready for opening in September... I took a shot of it today while I was out with my camera, thought I'd share it for those interested.
