St. John's Convention Centre Expansion Proposal

Is this design more recent than the first one I posted?

Convention Centre Designs

Hmm. I think I am liking the older design more. Fits in with New Gower and the existing centre more. Maybe because it's so better rendered than the coloured panels version. The coloured panels version kinda reminds me of a movie cineplex. Not a bad thing though. Would love to see a much more comprehensive drawing of it.

I didn't even know this condo development was started. I'ts sorta hidden away behind some homes on Topsail Road near the Brookfield Fire Station.

This is from November and seems to fit with the first photo you posted. My question is what are they doing with that skywalk that appears to be leading to Ultramar?

St Johns Convention Centre

Yeah, the aerial shot of the centre design seems to fit with the older street view design more than the colour panels design. Time will tell once construction gets underway whether they go with one or the other designs. From what I can see, The pedway heading across the street towards the Ultramar would then turn 90 degrees and cross over New Gower to connect the Delta Hotel on the other corner, which makes sense.

Harbourfront Restaurants

Off the subject of the convention centre. Does anyone know what the status is of the proposed Restaurants what were supposed to go next to the Keg on the harbourfront? Hasn't been any activity there is some time, though they have removed the large sail sculpture which was probably in the way of construction.
Any word on what Restaurants (if any) are slated to go there?

Nice to finally see that there will be a nice building in that field. It was always covered in litter and garbage in the past.

Haven't heard much on the restaurants next to the Keg, except that they had been approved, and one of which is supposedly a PF Cheng.

Those look quite nice, and a break from the usual designs found in St. John's.

I'm just wondering though where the entrances are for the units, as all I see are garages. Maybe on the other side?

Convention Center Expansion

Here is a link to a floor plan for the new convention center:

http://destinationstjohns.com/destin...lanner/#/18-19

My only question is why is this taking four years to complete? Seems like a long time for a project of this size.
