Maybe they were just trying to be different, than all the other weatherboards on the Five Star hotels as well.

Who knows.

So does this mean they are gonna hit the 20th floor by newyears? At this rate, they are going to have the building topped out in less than a year from now...

Hello, gorgeous! Big T.O. gets glittering string of new hotels

Promises of 5-star luxury, recognizable brands give Toronto, ON, glamour boost.

Article by Heather Greenwood Davis

It’s Toronto‘s turn. Sure, there’s been a hotel or two opening here or there over the past few years in Ontario‘s (and Canada’s) Big Apple. But the openings slated over the next two years promise more luxe and excitement than we’re used to. The city that has a reputation for good times, great theatre and gorgeous skylines is upping its hotel offerings with a mix of five-star and boutique properties bound to make everyone’s New Year wish list.

* Shangri-La: The wait for the 17-floor development has only increased the drool factor among those familiar with the Hong Kong-based chain that also has a Vancouver, BC, location. Promising the most spacious guest rooms in the city (45.4 sq m or 500 sq ft minimum), oversized bathrooms and Asian-inspired décor, the hotel’s fans are eagerly awaiting the 2012 opening.

* The Ritz-Carlton: A recent water-main break has delayed the planned summer 2010 opening of the hotel, but won’t deter it from hosting a 2,137 sq m (23,000-sq ft) “urban sanctuary” that includes an indoor pool, signature spa, fitness centre yoga studio and so on. When the doors swing open in January 2011, foodies will fall in love with the restaurant’s cheese cave, walk-in wine cellar and open pastry kitchen.

* Thompson Toronto: Funky. Swanky. Sexy. This hotel has it all. Chauffeured car service. Rooftop infinity pool. A room that sports both smoked glass and floor-to-ceiling window views of the city. Doors swung open earlier this year.

* Trump International Hotel & Tower: When the 60-storey building makes its debut in 2011, it’s bound to bring out its namesake. The 118 condominium residences and 261 hotel suites will share space on the deep downtown corner. Luxury trappings are a given, but the senior business types it’s bound to attract may enjoy the 1,115-sq-m (12,000-sq-ft) high-tech business centre with screening rooms as much as the two-level, full-service spa.

That will be tough, but I guess it's possible.

They need to form another 4 floors before they get to 22. And less than a month left.

I walked by the Shangri La about 5 minutes ago. Didnt have my trusty camera with me, but I'll say this: You Guys Need to be Concerned. This shit is serious, I couldn't believe my eyes. There is some new cladding, on the corner of the southface, and its serious.

Four Seasons May End up getting owned by this. Mirrorlike finish, and enhanced ribbing off the mullion panelling. Serious, serious stuff. It just looks amazing. Unreal.
