There's something about this tower that makes it feel about 100 feet taller than it is. The massing is like some kind of crazy cross between Art Deco and "futuristic space ship."

Only The Chrysler Building makes my loins quiver with such fervor. I'm channeling STLGasm on this one - one of my favorite buildings on the planet. (I'm really liking BofA too).

Once the city's tallest residential tower. Never quite knew what to make of it though, don't hate it, but don't exactly love it either...

I’m sure you wouldn’t mind it if you lived in one of the top floors.

It’s a quintessential 80’s residential tower; but I’ve never had a problem with it. It actually blends in quite well; nothing about it despite its height really jumps out at you. I do think that the trio was made for one another.

It's kind of a tacky design...it's strange that it's so tall. I don't know if I like black glass and white stone...

Speaking of which, whats the siding? Granite? It's looking pretty rough.

This building is so unapologetic unique and bold. It clearly states that it has no desire to channel other buildings around it, simply presenting itself in terms of its own appearance.

I've known of this building since it was built. (I've been a Helmut Jahn fan for a long time) I remember it standing out, because for a while there, it was the tallest new building built in NYC. IIRC, it's still the tallest mixed-use building in the city.

I to am a fan of this building. It rather obscure due to its location and being hidden by two over 700 foot buildings. You really have to walk almost right under it to full appreciate it height. It was interesting building to draw.

I recall there being some problem with a "whistling" sound from the roof when it was first bult. I agree that it works well as part of the "trio", though all are about to be eclipsed by a taller tower (or become a quartet of one taller an 3 shorter towers).

I recall the tower going up during my first visit to the big apple in 1986. There were few big buildings going up at that time. Times Square was still full of porno cinemas and stank of piss. The grit and the shit.

Not sure why, but I wasn't real big on it when I first saw it in pictures. It's really grown on me, though, and I find it quite nice now.

I've always thought Citispire was an incredible building. The central octagonal form is very unique. The form is so slender when viewed from the side as you're walking across 55th or 56th... and then massively wide with hulking sturdiness with its rising tiers as you pass at its base.
