Dammit! At first glance I thought this was the Plensa piece for the Bow.

It's kinda cheesy and lame, but interesting how the characters walk around the edge and to me it's stating "Look at how busy EV is going to be in the future! don'tcha wanna be an urban pioneer?"

That'll be a bit still. Heavy Industries isn't done building it yet.

I'm loving seeing these ugly boxes being painted into works of art around town.
I quite like these koi at 42 Ave SW and Macleod by the Husky station.

Next Saturday, September 22, is the 9th Annual Eastside Studio Crawl representing almost 175 artists from over 40 studios mainly in Ramsay.
burnsvisualarts.com has the info.

The public art at Martindale station looks to be getting close to done. What is done is lit up at night, and looks pretty interesting. Sorry, I couldn't get a picture of it yet. However, it looks similar to the renderings that were in the NE Extension riders guide.

Anyone check out the Atlantic Art Block during that open doors yyc event last month? They had the Esker Foundation gallery open, and i have to say I was blown away that a space like that exists in Calgary. really interestingly designed with some great views of the city from Inglewood and quite a large gallery space.

I recommend it.

I always get a kick out of the fact that the design of the box outside of Peter's Drive In is in the style of the A&W Burger family!

Does anyone know if the frame that is inside the head permanent or does it get pulled out when everything is complete?

I have a nagging feeling that it stays. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm pretty sure it's only there to aid construction and support the mesh. No way would they leave such slapped together scaffolding when it's complete.

Um, no. It gets removed.

I hope you're right, but it doesn't really look that slapped together and it is more of a framework than a scaffolding.

I came across this the other day. It doesn't give much detail, but nice to see more of these small art projects around the city.
