Let me get this straight, Hamilton wants to build a new stadium, they won't work with the stadiums primary tenant the Hamilton Tiger Cats on the stadium design, they want to build the stadium where nobody wants it (or wants to go) , and they want to build it with seating for only 15K. Am I missing something.

City wants the stadium by the waterfront, near the downtown core. Ti Cats say the location for the stadium is too isolated, therefore hard to get naming rights, traffic and parking issues.

It is up to the Ti Cats or any other private sector to expand the stadium beyond 15,000 seats.

One more of MTS Centre future home of the Winnipeg (fill in the blank). The original design would have been very impressive in this shot. But MTS doesn't look to bad.

Near the downtown core but too isolated? Hmmm? Somethings rotten in that statement.

They want car traffic from all four sides, North, South, West and East, to the stadium. It's all about cars. With the waterfront at the North can't get any cars from the North just South, West and East. The stadium will be literally steps away from a new GO Train Station, everyone from the GTA can hop on the GO Train to the stadium.

The Ti Cats REALLY want the stadium dropped some greenfield next to the QEW, 8 lane highway with Niagara to the West and Toronto to the East.

Great BC Place videos - thanks for sharing.
I think the glass around the perimeter (at the base of the fabric roof) is going to help the feel in there a lot.

Come on Hamilton get it right (30,000 seats min.)

I wish Calgary had something in the works.
In fact I wish this whole country cared more about their stadiums. Seems to be progress on a few fronts I guess.

I can hop on at Union Station and be at a Tiger-Cats game in 45 minutes? I'm so there. You just hit the nail on the head when you said steps from the new GO Train Station.

This is way better than being next to some highway in the middle of nowhere. Now they can market their team to any place with a GO Train connection to Hamilton. The Tiger-Cats need to join the 21st century and make this smart urban planning location work for them.

I love the size and the roof, but am I the only one who finds the stadium itself to be a bit busy?

Its not bad but there just seems to be a lot going on with all the different treatments and shapes of the exterior walls.

The architect never had an idea that didn't end up somewhere in that design. The arches are good, though.

Why not just renovate it? McMahon might be old, but it's got some of the best sight lines in Canada. Ohio Stadium, Soldier Field, Lambeau Field are all old stadiums that have had a lot of work done on them. They look fabulous. A new stadium isn't the only good option, Calgary could spend some money modernizing McMahon instead.

I agree. They need to clean it up considerably.

I'm a big fan of McMahon. Without question it could use renovations, but it is not like Canad Inns, Mosaic or Ivor Wynne, all of which are absolutely decrepit. McMahon is far from it.

McMahon's not that bad.

The Winnipeg stadium looks pretty good and it's good to see it going ahead I don't have much faith in the 400 million to 1.3 billion monstrosity that might be attempted in Regina. The price differential of a stadium that would cost three times as much as the new Bomber stadium could probably be better utilized elsehwere.

McMahon has fantastic sightlines. Compared to Commonwealth you feel much closer to the game and not having the track to deal with is a huge benefit.

....but the indside of McMahon...it's bad.

110% correct!

The stadium doesn't need to be replaced... it just needs major renovations! Replace the benches with seats, add more corporate suites, replace the replay screen with an HD one and for Christ's sake expand the concourses!!!

There's no need to tear the old girl down... look what they done with Soldier Field in Chicago, just reno it!
