Downtown Boise: A Hot & Lazy Sunday

August 3, Downtown Boise
A Quiet Sunday Morning
My regular Summer Thread will be posted soon, this is just a warm up

I biked downtown to meet a friend and of course fuel up with an iced mocha. It was hard to resist the bottomless Mimosa's at City Grill.
Sunday is probably downtown's most mellow time of the week.
The smoke in the air is thanks to wildfires in Nevada and California.

one of my favorite's!

to the out of towners, this is Freak Alley where graffiti/art is encouraged.

Later in the afternoon......................The Boise River, Downtown

Looking at The Aspen from The River

Julia Davis Park

And a cool flashback to this past winter

A few other skyline shots taken at sunset.

My massive Boise Summer Photo Thread is coming soon

Have you also learned that secret from the river; that there is no such thing as time? That the river is everywhere at the same time, at the source and at the mouth, at the waterfall, at the ferry, at the current, in the ocean and in the mountains.-Hermann Hesse

Nice. So this is Boise on a Sunday? Looks about 10 times more busy than downtown Salt Lake on a Sunday
Your new tower is looking great.

Love the older buildings and the trees. Every (smart) city in America, especially in the west, should be a "City of Trees".

Nice set of pics! Boise really has something special with our river, parks, and kick ass downtown, the greenery and the trees. The last picture is beautiful.

How late into the season do people float the river through the city?
A lot of my co-workers at my office here in Salt Lake are pretty impressed that you can float a river right through a major city.
You see, we do not have this luxery down here in the Salt Lake Valley.

Thanks everyone who has commented and enjoyed the pics.

PHX31, I also agree that every smart ciy in the West should be a city of trees and take pride in their trees such as Boise does. Almost all of the cities represented on this forum in Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, are in arid areas of the West and some more arid than others, except Coeur d'Alene of course, and trees should be just as important if not more important to our city landscapes then new towers and buildings are.
Boise is in a river valley with a high water table and a mild climate so the trees thrive here.

Northernlad, the river has an official floating season which usually lasts until Labor Day or into September, or however long Barber Park keeps the air on to fill up the rafts and tubes. Barber Park is the put in area in East Boise, and Ann Morrison Park downtown is the take out. If you really wanted to, you could float the river anytime of the year except for during Spring runoff.
I have seen people canoeing through the city during December, and people are usually fishing the Boise throughout the year.

I've heard about that Boise itch (it is a lot different than the itch I hear a person can catch in Caldwell and even more different than the itch out in Ontario--I've heard that itch burns

What would the Boise itch be? A mountain bike, kayak, fishing rod, whitewater raft?
