Grand Rapids looks really nice...seems like a lot of recent development in the core, and tons of the old buildings are still there!

Cool. A stayed at the JW in Grand Rapids for a night a year ago and was pretty impressed with the city. A hope to go back this fall and spend some more time there.

wow... Grand Rapids is like the anti-Detroit... those are Chamber of Commerce photos! I love the blue glass towers along the river! Downtown is clean and bright... and seems surprisingly urban...

Downtown Grand Rapids is probably my favorite downtown in Michigan. Wonderful historic architecture, a seemingly vibrant scene, and many projects (warehouse conversions, etc). And the neighborhoods of Grand Rapids seem very healthy as well.

I have a close friend from GR and have visited a few times. It's a good place.

Grand Rapids is one of those places I never knew anything about until I started frequenting this forum and it always impresses me. I would love an opportunity to see it someday. Excellent photos, thanks!

Grand Rapids has always seemed like an impressive mid-sized city to me. It looks like it's getting denser, based on your pictures.

GR is the star of Michigan! Was there two years ago and was extremely impressed! Far different than the other MI cities!

I've never been to either city, but your pics are pushing me in that direction (especially GR). Great to see all the cranes in Grand Rapids. And I love the circular fire escape. Gotta admit that's a pretty nice State Capitol bldg too.
Wonderful pics ColDay, thanks.

Great photos. Every time I see GR its just gets more impressive. Lansing on the other hand seems to be an underperformer, MSU and the State Capitol, it should have a lot more going on (at least that they impressions I have gotten from different photo tread on the city).

Great pictures!

Grand Rapids is a real gem. Around the city one will find little retail clusters. It has some decent bustle to it too.

Lansing, not so nice (said by a 23 year native of the Lansing area).

I'm surprised, Grand Rapids looks good, and quite healthy. Hell then even have a Curves. (lol)
