It was installed a couple of days ago as a series of arch supports that bridge the gap of the lower concourse.

That's not fireproofing on the arches. That's probably intumescent paint, which expands into fireproofing when heated. They'll paint the rest of the hub with this, or are probably doing that, now.

When will the rest of the trees be planted at the north-east part of the memorial?

So I went on a tour of the museum today. I have to say it's absolutely astonishing just how huge the space is... To get so close to the artifacts and touch the footprints was just an amazing experience.

Even in it's current state it took over two hours to go round. It really will be an emotional and humbling experience for people when it opens.

that picture warms my soul. I cannot believe that by 2015 a shiny new Lower Manhattan will be complete or nearly complete for all to enjoy. I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again: even though 9/11 was awful, tragic, a nightmare, and we lost two monuments to mid-century minimalism, icons of New York as it resurged in the 80s and 90s...well, I think we got away even better than we ever were before.

And the twin towers will live on anyway in all of our memories. So I can't wait to embrace this magical, brilliant future.

They form the curved end of the hub. As you enter from the East you will encounter this.

I was able to go on site this week and the scale just isn't apparent from webcams. All of the steel they are erecting now is creating a vast space and I think the openness of the hub will be quite spectacular.

One of the surprises to me was the sheer size of the Museum space. I knew it, I had seen renders, but being in there is completely different. The level of open space under the memorial and being able to walk around the pools underground is amazing.

Interesting fact. You are stood next to (under) the pools but you hear no pumps or water flowing.... The only thing that broke the silence was the path train

this is really one of the most exciting projects in NYC. Four more truckloads of steel being delivered. the east side is being fitted with a curved end piece. Will really see this taking shape and cannot wait to see the flying ribs take shape

I see that most of Greenwich street is now almost done with rebar, and about 1/3 done with cement. What is the "blue-ish" color substance they're applying to the cement now?? It's tough to tell exactly what it is from the webcam because of distance. What is the purpose and process for this??

Looks like they're waterproofing the roadbed for another, more final layer of concrete and asphalt.

in advance of the 9/11 museum opening, snohetta's first project in the usa has already opened this past fall at my alma mater.

so have a look at the wolfe center for the arts at bgsu as the museum design is rather similar
