Favorite Chicago 2000 footer to never get built

What's your favorite cancelled 2000 footer in Chicago. I know the MBSN was technically 1999 feet and that the Spire isn't officially cancelled, but let's face it that thing had at best slim chances of getting built and now those chances have gotten way slimmer.

My favorite is still 7SD. It still looks very futuristic. The MBSN looks too much like a NYC building to belong in Chicago. BOth WTC buildings look like big hulks and besides their height don't have much interest.

i'm still a fan of 7SD. the cantilevers actually made sense, allowing for both a very slender building, and a complete lack of pillars.

harry weese's WTC design looked as if it were intentionally aping the style of the nyc WTC. not exactly exciting, but it was the time of cost-cutting.

miglin beitler kinda resembles the petronas towers, and a bunch of other tall buildings with setbacks. very pretty. too bad it was cancelled too. i'm not a huge fan of the spire. calatrava's twisting designs morphed from interesting to passe very quickly. but then again, i would have been happy if any/all of these buildings were built. at least their square footage wouldn't have been located out in the paved over cornfields.

The fact that the Chicago Spire is on this list is not only aggravating but factually incorrect, "cancelled TBD" or not. Spread your panic and factual debauchery elsewhere.

Obviously I don't have photos of things that never existed, but there are drawings. I have a great book of all the works of Adrian Smith and it has great drawing of 7SD. You can check out the 2300 and 2500 ft buildings in the diagram sections. I don't know how to insert those in a thread. Here are 3 of the more recent ones.

It is a little strange that someone would "panic" because a building didn't get built unless of course it was your building, but I feel very confident that the spire will not get built with the current state of real estate market and the global recession. Heck, 7SD folded in the early 2000s and that was a time when the conditions were much more favorable for such a project.

7SD

Skyneedle

Spire

Agreed, it's a shame that it didn't see the light of day.

I would have to go with that one, and 7SD being a close second.

Cancelled, On Hold, Pending, nobody's sure if they're gonna get built. Might as well put all of them in the same thread.

Sort of suprised, but not, that the Skyneedle is in the lead. How can you not go with 7SD?

7SD is spectacular, the WTC was awesome if not for its brutality, and the Skyneedle looks stupid. I mean, look at all those setbacks with no relation to each other, its postmodernism at its worst, and what's worse is that its 2000 feet tall.
