Passed earlier in the week, and parking lot is still there and operating, so this one might be seeing slight delays getting into the ground. Had hoped there was a chance caissons might actually be drilled before the end of the year, adding to the official construction start tally for 2011, but it's looking more like a (hopefully) early 2012 start for 360 W. Hubbard...

Well the residential buildings have been, but for office buildings or, even better, lab/office buildings, you simply have to build taller. Just look at all the new buildings on Wacker. They are all just under 700' and are about 50 floors. So 40-45 floors would likely work out to be about 600' especially if you consider that Lab spaces (assuming there are some) require even higher ceilings.

Got an official height today for the new Roosevelt dorm: 469'-2". Only 2 inches more than the already published height but at least it's confirmed from blueprints now. Thanks to the "Godfather of Skyscraper Geeks" for getting it (most of you probably know who this is).

We plan to do some height-hunting in the coming week or two, so stay tuned.... it's been a while since I've done this.

Does anybody know whether these were actually heard last week at the Plan Commission meeting, and if so, approved? Didn't see any blurbs in the media afterward, so was wondering if Reilly had them pulled from the agenda or they were otherwise deferred??....

^^ According to SOAR, 410 E. Grand was approved.

There's no reason to suspect that 73 E. Lake wouldn't be approved. The major amendment to the PD authorizing the tower was already approved several years ago. There's not much reason to oppose the minor tweaks that are now being proposed, and there's absolutely no opposition to this project.

^^ I believe those define the safe radius, the back doesn't stick out as far from the axis as the front, and these rotate more than they crawl.
