Great seeing these pics, especially from the different views. I miss going over to these places. I won't be doing as many updates as I used to since my office is now further into the loop. The time it takes to get my bike down one of those old school freight elevators, go contra-flow on Wabash and make it to Illinois takes maybe 25 minutes into my lunch break!

Construction doesn't have a firm start date - but should be 'soon', the hotel group is targeting an opening in July 2013.

No name has been selected yet, but the initial presentation on naming suggestions was done late last week.

Things are very much moving forward behind the scenes.

Just saying...

Man, that hotel project is turning out so much better than I expected. Can't wait to see the finished product. Thanks, hydrogen.

Yeah. I'm really glad they decided to do something with the glass much beyond what was in the renders. Hopefully the other aspects of the facade have been improved as well. I love that the big panels open too. Adds some nice texture.

There's a ton of framing on the alley side, but your right. It seems unusually slow but there's probably a reason.

^ Much agreed on the tri-hotels. At least we're getting a solid contribution to the architecture of River North with this one. Just too bad it's much more than offset with that ghoulish exercise in painted concrete and punched-out windows just to the south.

East-West Student Center

Are the caisson rigs actually doing anything yet down at East-West on S Wabash?

171 N. Wabash

Think this one is about to pop.

The trades are reporting that M&R announced construction has started (not by our standards yet, mind you). I'd like to think this means that they've officially now closed on their complete financing package. Backhoes are doing their thing on-site.......I wouldn't be surprised to see caisson equipment show up any day now.

Also, I think I might be stuck in some sort of highly-localized temporal loop - this development's (Summit on Lake) address has been 73 E. Lake for some time now.....

I hope so. Hines should produce something better than the previous SCB boxes.

Have we reached a point where we have just about as many glass boxes as "others" in this city? Seems like it.
