This is a relatively large site, I thought. It seems they are moving quick to me when compared to other sites in the city.

Site has not made much progress since spring. I got a bunch of photos but didn't post because of slow progress

Seems to me that is is moving at a similar pace as Optima, but the site is much larger/more complex. Optima isn't exactly breezing along though.

^ Shawn and Victor and I went. There wasn't a whole lot of new information about the school. The meeting wasn't as contentious as the meetings for Wolf Point or River Point were. We did learn that the Arquitectonica plan is no longer active, which I'm sure will disappoint many here. Something else yet undetermined will go on that site.

Thanks but yeah, I pretty much figured Arquitectonica was dead after the plan for the schools came out. Any ground breaking/completion dates on the schools?

I believe there's another tower planned for the site, and everyone here will be elated with the project's architect whenever they decide to announce it.

The projected start/completion dates went by too fast for me in a flurry of details (while I was fishing for my pen) to catch them. Shawn thought he heard they'd start this year, with Phase 1 (the 10-story k-4 school on South Water Street) finished in 2013 (which seems over-optimistic to me) and the 13-story 5-12 school on Wacker Drive finished in 2014. But don't take my word for it - these might have been the start dates for all I know!

And yeah, Magellan definitely plans to develop the 375 East Wacker site in some form. They say they're committed to bringing good architecture to the site.

I agree. Optima started a few months prior to 360 W. Hubbard, so seems to me they are moving at roughly the same pace...

Do you know something, or are you extrapolating from the last two towers, which were a substantial upgrade from the usual Loewenbergs.

If there is a new architect, I'm guessing Koolhaas.

So will 360 Hubbard be getting its own thread or will it stay in this section?

I really like the texture of this. What does CIP stand for? and why is precast being used more than this stuff?

CIP = "Cast-In-Place" as in concrete. Not sure why precast is used more though, maybe because it's created off-site it's more cost effective or easier to form. Good question for a developer or GC.

A tale of two hospitals

While everyone will probably be focused on the plans presented tonight for redeveloping Children's Memorial into a mixed-use development, St. Anthony has introduced a plan for a new hospital at 31st and Kedzie that already includes a park, community spaces, and retail.
