If only (for example) the Old Post Office were capable of adequate retrofit, they could just disappear from this location before long.
I can't imagine a change anytime soon. They just refreshed the whole exterior last summer. Mostly paint, signage, lighting and repair. But the change was pretty dramatic, visually at least. At the time there was some architecture firm credited on the construction signage, can't remember who though. Certainly it could be vastly improved, but it has come a long way from just a year ago.

I'll try to grab photos sometime this week, but Staybridge is definitely ramping up. They had what looked like a flatbed delivering something and lots of sawing and hammering going on at lunchtime today.

I cannot wait for stay bridge to finish! That has been stagnant for waaay too long!

K2 is looking awesome. It has such a dominating presence when going north or south on 90/94 near the loop.

Eye-candy of AMLI, Hotels Project and Staybridge site

AMLI: Getting tall now, with several windows already installed.

Hotels project: The quality and scale of this project is impressive!

Staybridge: Looking forward to this one getting back U/C!

Greenway self park has the worst glass to cover the ramps. Perhaps if it was a lot more opaque or frosted it would have looked much better.

True, but it still looks better than AMLI. What a turd that's turning out to be.

Thanks for the photo update, Ectocooler!

Any photo requests?

If the weather holds up I'll be buzzing around downtown in a helicopter for about an hour between 9 and 10 Tuesday morning, with the doors off. Plan to shoot all of the new developments from multiple perspectives.

We'll have three cameras up - me with a Nikon D800, Michael Kardas (a pro) with a Canon 5D Mark III, and Mike Scotty, my CEO, with a Nikon D3200.

I'll do my best to accommodate any requests - fire away.

^^That's very nice of you to ask Joe. I remember the aerial photo set that you and Michael Kardas did back in Nov of 2010, which was amazing, so I'm certain that this next set will also be awesome. For me personally, I would love to see different angles of Lakeshore East, as well as new shots of Streeterville but depending on your route, I'd love to see more of Hyde Park, with the new Harper Court office building, as well as the new hospital and the new Arts Center; obviously dependent on whether or not you'll be swinging by that far south.

Thank you all again!

^ Yep, Hyde Park is a good one. I am also curious about the progress of some of the other developments on the south side that are rarely posted here, like some of the new CHA replacement housing going up along the south lakefront, and some of the stuff going on near IIT at 35th and State.

Thanks for offering, Joe.

My plans, as I stated, were to stay downtown. If time permits - no guarantees - I'll take a brief run past Hyde Park before heading in.

An aerial progress shot of the Congress / Wacker interchange would be nice. It's hard to understand exactly what's going on from the ground.

Rather selfish of me, but some good zoomed in aerials of the Gold Coast around Rush and Oak and Mariano park. They aren't big developments, but recent and near future replacement of everything would make for a very valuable "Then and Now" photo. The same treatment around Parkside Oldtown would be interesting too as I'm sure that area will fill in the next decade.

Joe, if you get a good view, could you take a shot or two of the Ritz on Michigan? I'd like to see the impact it has on the area and streetwall. I know street level it pretty much bombed visually for a lot of people, but it's not a total disaster in my eyes. Thanks if possible, if not, I still think you're a good man.

I second this one. CDOT dropped the ball on aerial photos a long time ago. A few shots of Congress streetscaping would be nice as well. I've always wanted to see an aerial shot aligned with Congress looking out towards the west over the Post Office.
