the Tiger Leaping Gorge, 11,000ft deep (more than twice the Grand Canyon), so called because due to legend a tiger once leapt across it - its 25m wide at its narrowest point:

The Dragons Backbone rice terraces, thousands of years in the making, also harbour many steep sided villages

Male, Maldives, the worlds flattest country hundreds of miles from mainland India, highest point 8 feet above sea level.

When the 2007 tsunami struck the entire country became part of the sea. The island was so low lying and flat the water swept directly through the streets and straight out the other side (thus lessening any damage).

Salt Lake City, Utah USA
Ski resorts, national parks and monuments, the world's largest super-salty lake, the biggest man-made excavation on the planet and rugged mountains are all within close proximity of this booming Rocky Mountain metropolis sandwiched between the Wasatch and Oquirrh mountain ranges.

Hey, it's easy to say that Salt Lake City's exotic for someone who probably doesn't even know Africa's not a country...

Seriously, about something we can all be fascinated in. Then, of course, there's the cities built on Islands like Venice and Amsterdam - Amsterdam's canals were pretty much man-built, but it's nevertheless amazing what's been done to the city, and Venice of course, is truly a city built on islands, I had the pleasure of going there two years ago, and it was, of course, amazing. The way the city is practically carved out of the lagoon, out of the water, and of course the Venetian architecture... Just their satellite photos can't cease to amaze me:
