Chicago's last beautiful fall day (68 photos)

Sadly it appears today is the end of our beautiful warm weather. We'll probably not be this warm again until at least March if not April. So I made sure I spent some time outside this afternoon taking in what's left of the beautiful fall colors in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. These photos were taken mainly within a couple blocks of Armitage Avenue. I hope you enjoy them.

The new Armitage stop (brown & purple lines)

...and the exit on the other side of the street

Love those turret buildings..! Chicago has a unique look to it.

Are the El trains loud? Does the city offer people who live next to El lines soundproofed/double-paned windows?

Ah...Fall in Chicago. Thanks for the photos.

And yes, Kingofthehill, the trains are loud, but you get used to them. As for the people who's windows are literally 2 feet from the tracks, I would assume they get used to it too (I have a friend in such a situation who claims he is) but probably with a little more conditioning.

Nice. The past few days have been excellent weather. Box fans in my window, great sleeping weather, no matter what you did it was compfortable and just beautiful out. Last night was the last until like May or something so I went for a long walk to enjoy the last of it.

Great pictures. I'll be looking for this thread in a week for memories.

I had some friends that shared an apartment next to the El when I was living in Chicago. Most have double-paned windows, I'm sure, but they're great for young people who want an affordable apartment. If you're a heavy sleeper that doesn't spend a lot of time at home (i.e., most kids just out of college), you can get a much cheaper apartment in a nice neighborhood than those just a block away. It's like a little affordable housing program.

Classic Chicago neighborhood

Nice shots! Freemont south of Armitage is a magical trick or treating street.

Wow what a beautiful day, Nov the 5th was almost as nice as the 4th, that made your photo's just dance.

Did you see any post election energy that was so alive the day and night before? It is hard to see any, if there was, of it in stills but being that you were walking the streets, do you have any other commentary?

What a nice photo thread Ohioguy!
