The density on 57th Street is insane. One57 has really transformed it into the city's best skyscraper canyon, topping 42nd & 6th Avenue (IMO).

I will be getting a full update with the glass once the weather is nice out again,

Coming in on the train this morning, I sat on the opposite side from where I usually sit - so I had a somewhat Northern view of One57. . . . couldn't believe how much of an impact this has on the skyline.

Totally off-topic for this thread, but it's amazing to think that just 5 years ago, the Citibank tower in LIC stood all by itself. Now it has a nice little skyline forming around it.

BUT, back to the top at hand, One57 will appear more prominent on the skyline as the glass curtain wall is installed and picks up more light. Of course, the extra 50-100 feet of mechanical penthouse won't hurt either.

Yeah I'd love for LIC to have its own little CBD. That with the projects along the Hudson popping up will have a huge impact on the skyline.

Is One57 taller than Citycorp now?

Update from yesterday. Very happy with the photos, and One57 looks AMAZING! Tons of glass installed recently although the top is climbing quite slow.

Nice photos, been wanting to see that progress. I like that he's weighting towards the back (57th side, the heavy canyons) with the progressively darker glass ratios. It could help the front corners to "disappear" and get the park side kind of dissolved into the sky, supported by a strong spine on 57th. ???? Yes, fan boy ramblings, but i find this building very interesting. s

As long as 2 WTC isn't built, the One57 marks the best add the NYC's skyline imo. The facade is just stunning, the structural design is beautiful and the 360° view of the full floor aptmts is going to be amazing.
What are the two big "holes" for though? Are they used as some kind of cool air tunnel or is it some kind of balcony? Sorry to ask, I must have overread that so far!

If you mean the two on the roof, it's just vents etc. (other HVAC mechanisms). There's also a private penthouse on the top.

One57 makes its significant mark on the skyline as viewed from Times Square on the 25th floor of the old Paramount Building.

It's there and it's square!

On another note, Times Square has to be the only place in the world that is crazier than the world's craziest places.

What an amazing view from Times Square!
As crazy as this sounds, NYC could use many more skyscrapers - I just love the density.

^As much as I love Clinton and Midtown West,I wonder how cool it would look if the area was full of 700 footers.

There are so many areas in Manhattan that could easily host many more skyscrapers.

The opportunities are tremendous!

The tower looks great. Its positioned in a spot where it can maintain a great deal of presence without completely dwarfing its neighbors.
