this building is gonna be amazing!! and with the verre tower basically right next to it, uptown portion of NYC is gonna have an even better skyline than it has in past years. Hope NYC builds more!!!!! and if it is a supertall, there should be at least 2-3 cranes possibly even 4 if you could fit another one.

There's an interesting overhead shot of the tower which shows the L-shaped plot on the architect's website: http://chdeportzamparc.com

Do you guys see how a low-rise base seems to extend to 58th Street?

I wonder if this crinkled structure is the facade for that base. It shows Portzamparc standing in front of it, and it was first shown in an article about this tower in The National (of Dubai).

There is likely a setback due to regulations. It was disucussed briefly on the website how the tower fit in with zoning which resulted in the unusual shape.

For comparison, a look at the Tower Verre from above. Both towers fit in, New York style.
Keep your extra large plazas and parking spaces.

From the overhead image, it certainly appears to have a podium that reaches the street. What I'm interested in is the facade. The north facade seems to have crenolated glass and the base shown here seems to have wrinkled and
very interesting glass.

I'm not 100% certain that's the same tower. But assuming it is, can you even see the base? Keep in mind only a "sliver" of the tower will front 58th.

I'm not sure it's the same tower either. I'm speculating. I hope it is though because I like that crinkled glass.

Just happened to be in Central Park. Carnegie 57 will look great in this shot in the future.

The Abu Dhabi investment guys from Aabar Funding signed on the dotted line in September and gave Gary Barnett's Extell Development $140,675,252 toward the construction of his Park Hyatt project across from Carnegie Hall.

As Post colleague Steve Cuozzo reported yesterday, concrete work is underway.

I just saw a lecture by Seele (A German glass manufacturer who often works with Portzamparc).

Not sure if this has been shown here:
Here is the technique they will be using on this building (this building is also Portzamparc)

^make sure to check that out for more pictures

I think that's the same shot from the previous page, but it's still standing. I was gonna stop by the site earlier today,
but decided to wait a few more days (hoping for something new, as promised by Barnett).

That last pic is looking sweet, and Barnett is looking like a genius. Now let's keep it rising...
