An update from Wired New York. Notice how much taller the floors are than in the building to the right.

Keeps the streetwall nicely on both the north and south sides.

Those photos show that the building has more mass than it seems in the renderings.

I walked by on 17 Feb. 2010, and it's really growing.

Looks like great progress. It'll be nice to see the height taller than the mid-rises next to it.

Remember, it has an odd footprint.

I think there are two lines of windows on each floor of this building. However I like this project as it respects the street wall and will cover the ugly blank walls of the nearby properties.

Good point. So I guess maybe the renderings are right on. It's just that the 57th street facing is the long visible part of the "L" and at street level looks like a lot of mass, but as it rises the thinness of the building will become more evident.

I like a tall, thin building. It harkens back to the classic skyscrapers of the early 20th century, as opposed to the form-follows-function big glass square blocks of the 50s-70s.

I talked to a salesman in my company today, and he is working on a 7-fig contract for this project. I think there is little doubt that this thing will be built. We are one of the last steps in the building process right before tenants move in, so that they are about to finalize a deal with us says a lot on where this project is at.

Hopefully we get this project - I'd probably be the one to manage the install onsite. That means I'd spend a lot of time in the building

This has to be the lowest-key supertall construction site in the world right now.

Since it's going so slowly, I'll go off topic for a moment. This building reminds me of a giant periscope for people on 57th street to see what's going on in Central Park.

I should've had a camera on me last week. I was working in 1 liberty plaza and had an amazing view of the WTC site.

It's always exciting when a new building gets taller than the one next to it, even if the one next to it is short.
