By ADAM BRYANT
TV GUIDE

Thought you had heard the last of the Olympics until 2010? Think again.

On Saturday, Dec. 27, NBC will broadcast Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony: TV Event of the Year, a two-hour special hosted by Bob Costas and Matt Lauer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In addition to reliving the breathtaking production that kicked off the games, the special will look back at Beijing's most memorable moments, including the record-breaking performance of swimmer Michael Phelps. The special will also include a look forward to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, which NBC will also broadcast.

Costas and Lauer hosted the opening ceremony spectacular when if first aired in August. The special will air at 8 pm/ET.

Great stuff. I'll definitely try to get in on that. I'll probably end up taping it and fast-forwarding through the opening ceremony parts.

The NBC Olympic website now says Vancouver 2010 on the main page instead of Beijing.

^ for NBC, Vancouver 2010 could be just as big or even bigger than Beijing 2008 for the network in terms of ratings and profits.

NBC has posted tourism videos of Vancouver and Richmond along with a featured 2010 video online but videos are restricted to Americans only. I could go around that but I'm too lazy today =P

Just a reminder that the program is on TONIGHT.

Hopefully, the Vancouver 2010 promo isn't 30 secs long.

According to TV Guide, it's not on until 8 pm PST. It's from 8 pm to 10 pm.

It is on NBC at 8pm, but it's also on NBC B right now. I happen to have the luxury of duplicate channels. This is great, because I pretty much missed the entire opening ceremonies as I was in France at the time.

So you created an entire thread so for a 30 second bit on NBC. Lame. But you seem to be able to predict the length of the promo nicely.

LOL! Don't be so sour. Did you get socks for Christmas or something?

But anyway, don't even bother viewing it if all you want to see is the Vancouver bit... There is about one minute tagged onto the end. Nothing special. The Beijing ceremonies were incredible btw. Untouchable in my opinion.

Yep, how dare x2 not have the inside scoop of the NBC programming. How sloppy.

Geez, give it a break

Besides I think it lasted an entire minute

At least it was decent, though a bit rapid (those images were just flying by). I really didn't expect a 2-hour special on the Beijing Olympics to spend that much time previewing the games over a year away.

OMG....that was an amazing 2-hours. The Beijing Opening....relived....wow....and then NBC's preview - OMG again. If they did that for one minute (though it was more like two minutes ), just imagine what they'll do for the months to come and during 2010. Even though it was a short preview, they did a great job with it. I hope someone posts it on YouTube.
