Nice work. Good shots of Seattle and Portland. But what drew my attention was the Vancouver section. I lived in Vancouver for a spell, and I believe this thread over all others captures my recollections of the downtown area. This is truly an average afternoon in the DTES and surrounding locales. Thanks a lot for this tour, and for, in my eyes, an accurate summary of the beauty, tragedy, and ultimate hope that is Vancouver.

Why do you call Portland a small big city? Both Vancouver and Seattle are larger than Portland and both Vancouver and Seattle's Metro populations are bigger than Metro Portland's.
The facts. Source: the 2009 World Almanac. Portland-2,175,113 (2007), Seattle-3,309,347 (2007), Vancouver-2,146,000 (no date). Vancouver seems a lot bigger than Portland but the two cities have always had about the same metro populations for the past few decades.
