Galveston 2009, 4 months after Ike

I went down to Galveston(city 45 minutes south of Houston, for those who don't know) to check how the city was doing. It seems Galveston won't be the same for at least a year or so. The streets looked completely dead in a usually lively city. This tour is in no way comprehensive, check out my other Galveston threads for more pictures.

Great pics. Looks like most of the city did come through it with only minor damage. Did that 1900 Storm Memorial statue on Seawall Boulevard make it through the storm? I had heard it washed away.

This one:

Ouch.

The Flagship Hotel really was damaged quite badly. I'd forgotten about it.

Interesting pics to see.

Your girlfriend makes an excellend prop for your pictures!

My favorite in this set isn't any of the photos showing the damage, but rather the one with the puppy up against the fence. Very nice!

Very nice photos. Even in the destruction there are interesting things to see through the lens of a camera.
